Would you trade for Alex Ovechkin?

Washington is in dire need of a rebuild.
Ovie hasn't led them any deeper than the Semifinals.
He is on par for his worst season pt wise.

Perhaps all he needs is a change of scenery and club with more depth?

Would you trade and what would you trade?

Schenn, JVR, and a couple picks?

No.

Stay the course.

This requires completely changing our team identity, and that's something I don't approve of. I doubt Holmgren, Laviolette, Clarke, or Snider are interested in that either. There's a reason the team is constructed the way it is.

(And I'm a HUGE Ovechkin fan still.)

I love Ovechkin but I don't know if I'd trade for him. Depends on what the deal is.

No thank you. He really needs to get his act together, and I dont want to take that chance on our team with that cap hit.

NO ******* WAY!! Hate him. Remember the Mike Richards party talk? Yeah, his act would be just lovely in Philly. Not to mention his lazy defensive play. **** NO

It still kills me that we could have done without freaking Emminger and simply drafted Carlson that year. Grrr

He means wayyyyyyy too much for that franchise.

It would have to be Giroux+ to get Washington listening.

The thing about Ovechkin that concerns me is he is just like Carter when it comes to goals. He has a horrible shooting percentage and misses the net more then anyone in the NHL. The only way he can score 50 goals is if he gets 400-500 shots on net a season and attempts 600-700 shots. Given the price he would cost to trade for and how ungodly expensive his cap hit is I don't think he would really make us any better.

Rather would have taken Markstrom, there would be no Bryzgalov in Philly had that pick been made. I admit though I was excited to get Bryz during the offseason looked like a perennial Vezina candidate with Phoneix.

In regards to Ovechkin, no thanks, when he's not on pace to get over 100pt+ per season he's insanely overpaid (same can be said for almost any highly paid player, Danny B comes to mind). I know he's without Backstrom but with his cap hit he should be apply to shoulder the load by himself (Malkin without the wonderboy in the line-up), not worth putting like what, 1/6th, of your cap in a player like that.

His cap hit is huge, his work ethic seems bad (Have you seen the pictures of him in the offseason? And didn't he try to "play himself into shape" last season?), he seems to have attitude problems this season (last night, he tried to steal the puck from his own teammate...gave up completely on Boudreau...had a conflict with Wideman at practice...was called out for his work ethic/partying by Kolzig), and as a result of these things he has been declining. I don't think I'd want to dismantle out team to build around him. He seems more concerned with being a star than with being a great hockey player. The media around here isn't horribly bad to him...he'd be torn apart here, considering he likes to party.

If the media in Philadelphia saw what goes down in Russia House down by Dupont Circle he'd be run out of town faster than Bryzgalov.

does anybody else think his rivalry with crosby fueled him a bit?

I do like how strong he is, someone tried to check him last night and got ran over, it was awesome.

Would love to have him, but wouldn't want to part with the players it would cost to get him.

Seriously. They flipped a **** about Carter and Richards, they would burst into indignant rage-flames if they had to deal with Semin and Ovechkin.

I am with you on this one Chris. We are heading in the right direction and if our tenders can stop the puck we should be in good shape.
