I didn't hear wich player they were talking about (I think it was Bourque) but someone on L'AC just said something like "he was implicated, maybe not defensively since he was a -2..."

Nice analysis.

I have no issue getting rid of Ribeiro because he was a classless punk. But, the return was awful. Also, you don't trade your 2nd line centerman when you don't have anyone to replace him. We've been struggling for 5 frigging years to replace him.

uhhhhhhhhhh

Hope Moen is ok enough to be traded for full value ; time to sell, sell, sell !

People need to accept the tank is coming Edmonton fans had no choice but to accept it and their agony is ending slowly but surely , i just hope ours will be much shorter.

We need some elite talent for christ sake and galchenyuk and Grigorenko are the bets two options we have embrace it instead of denying it.

Gainey did horrible things with the team but the past is the past let's look forward we have a top 5 waiting for us plus 2 seconds round pick i trust Timmins will get us some much needed depth and hope for the future.

I I don't want to excuse him but he had a salary cap to respect too, thanks to Gomez ....
So we wouldn't have had any injuries to our main defensemen? That's the plan?

Even if Markov is back, we didn't replace Hamrlik's minutes (if you consider Wiz was just holding on to Markov's). The idea of building a team towards contention is improving it, not treading water or losing talent.

Well yeah, he had a salary cap to respect. That's why you try to not have bad contracts unless the guy is a legitmate top end talent, not a second rate player. We had plenty of second-rate overpaid players, that was a problem to begin with.

I'm not saying he wont be traded, but it doesn't look like Dallas ever wanted to get rid of him.

Obviously frustrated because he wanted to play and help the team; he flew to see his agent. To get him to demand that if Grabovski isn't going to play in the NHL, to send him down and let him play in the AHL.

He might have handled it incorrectly (he was young, is passionate, loves playing and makes mistakes like any other human). But in no way was he a cancer for this. The team should have realized the fire inside of this guy along with his high skill level. He should not have been dealt but at least we did get value for him (unlike most of our panic trades). It was stupid to trade it for Lang but that Centennial season ruined us.
Lang in return was at the time great. Then we wore those candy-cane abominations against Boston and the hockey gods did his tendon in retaliation to our marketing deparment.

Grabovsky running Markov speaks volumes about his compete level to me. He was full of fire yes, but cutting out on the team, a lot of guys have handled that situation differently. Not that the Habs are absolved, they obviously wanted a faceless yes-man player and baited him. Decidedly un-stellar on both parts.

Anyway he's gone, they're all gone and now we are in Oiler territory praying for some Russian teen.

We have to accept we may be pretty mediocre for a few years. This off-season will be very interesting.

Wait you mean YOU don't remember how Ribeiro was ripping the league at 22.

Anyway, if they keep on playing the dump and chase not a whole lot of players will be putting up gaudy ES point totals for the rest of the season.

Edmonton's agony is not ending anytime soon with that management.

Rebuilds usually fail. It takes years to get back to mediocrity.

It's gonna start with a refurbishing at GM and coaching levels.

I'm not saying Ribs is a bad player, I'm just saying he is a jerk and has proven it more than once. And not every GM in the league dumps their "problem" players like Montreal seems to do. We have made an art form of it.

Agreed. But our healthy top 4 lines would be:

Pac-DD-Cole
Gionta-Gomez-AK
LeBlanc-Eller-Bourque
Moen-Noke-White

Not great, but certainly not as bad as we have been experiencing.

Even if they were, I'd send them back for at least another year. Start fixing your own roster so you can give the kid a place where he doesn't have to carry your offense and won't have to live through something like this year.

Chicago Pittsburgh washington Tampa bay says hi.

All have had at least two top 3 picks and two of them have won the cup in recent years.

When the oilers will be on there won't be anything to stop them they need a couple of pieces but they are in the right path indeed.

Habs get 4 powerplays in the second and get zero to show for it, typical Habs.
