Comrie for a Goalie?

On the Buffalo board they are mentioning a possible Comrie for Martin Biron deal. Or a Comrie to Anaheim for Gerber and something. Biron doesn't make alot of sense unless you guys move Salo IMO. But Gerber makes some sense. Are you guys interested in either deals? Maybe the Comrie situation is a good chance to lock up goaltending in the current and future.

Edmonton's overpaying here. Comrie has quite a bit more value than Lupul, and look what Florida got for Worrel.

Ya, the Oilers bend over and take it up the rear on this one. Plus, the Oilers are happy with Conklin, and they sures hell aren't going to use Gerber as a starter. If the Oilers traded for Biron how ever, they'd need to move Salo somewhere.

Gerber is cheaper and better than Biron, Comrie has marginally better value than Lupul.

Gerber is cheaper, but not better. Biron has had the #1 spot in Buffalo for a couple years now. On a better team, he could have undoubtedly put up better numbers. Gerber has had not a bad start to the year, but fifteen games, a career does not make. Throw in that Gerber is three years older than Biron, and it becomes a no-brainer. Biron would be better for the Oil.

But I think all this talk is for naught. The Oil don't have a hope in moving Salo's contract this year. There are a lot of better options out there who will cost less. Especially the way Salo is playing, it's starting to look like a Felix Potvin type situation. Still early, granted, but I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Salo turning this thing around. And the Oil seem sold on Conks for the backup role, leaving no room in the inn for a new goalie.
