Would rather that happen honestly. Less major pieces to trade, lower cap and a great player.

You add a Nash to thsi team for arguments sake and you have two very real and veyr ligitimate shots at the cup.

As long as McD, MDZ, Kreider and Miller are not moved I'm good.

Dubinsky and any 2 other prospects and a 1st rounder (2nd rounder if it's both Erixon and McIlrath) for Nash and I am fine with that.

I'll deal with any potential Cap issue in 2013.
Pretty much agreed, although I'd part with Miller to get it done.

I think it's a good possibility, and I'm hoping it works out that way.

I think ultimately, Columbus just wants to recoup the price of Carter... save some face. Versteeg and a 1st. Dubinsky is a comparable, give or take depending on your home team perspective. It's close.

I think we are moving some of the logjam for picks this summer. Just my hunch. I'm not worried about missing a 1st and 2nd right now.

Regardless, let's stop with this crazy fantasy about Parise signing with us this off season. There is a .00001% chance he would sign with us.
I wouldn't say that.

I'm sure some felt that Driver would never sign with the Rangers.

I'm sure some felt that MacLean would never sign with the Rangers

I'm sure some felt that Holik would never sign with the Rangers.

Truth of the matter is that the Rangers have an opening as the teams top LW. The Rangers have the financial strength to offer him a very large contract. The Rangers are a young, up and coming team where if we do stand pat this deadline, will only be adding very solid pieces to both forward AND on D.

I would put the Rangers odds of signing Parise at 50/50 once he gets to July 1st.

We can offer him everything that any other team can offer.

I hate to acquire either of Carter or Nash, but if I had to choose, I might have to take Carter.

I've bashed his contract and his play (Melo of hockey), but if I had to choose i'd trade for him. Would probably cost a little less and even though he's got a 10 year deal, at least it's not for 7.8 per and for 5 per which would give us a little more room to retain guys.

I do not want either though.

I see Mike Richards when I look at this kid.

He plays the game the same way. Similar size, approaches the game in the same manner. Similar skill set and a very nice determination to get to the NHL.

I personally think he's going to be a better player than Kreider. But that's just my opinion.

I was wondering the same. Miller is a nice prospect, but would be a no brainer to include in a deal if a trade for Carter or Nash goes down.

This a very good collection of talent, but I don't care how good Lundqvist and the D are, they need to pick the scoring up to be a serious Cup threat... whether that's with current players or picking up players that can score.

Eric Belanger scored more goals than our whole team the other night. Should we trade for him too?

Jeff Carter? Where have the Rangers ever been linked to Carter? Look at that contract. LA is the only team willing to take that term.

I'm sure the organization was really high at one point on Jessiman and Sangs.

TSN is reporting the Phoenix Coyotes have acquired center Antoine Vermette from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

TSN is reporting the Blue Jackets will receive a pair of draft picks -- a second-round pick in 2012 and a fifth-round choice in 2013 -- as well as a minor-league player. The Columbus Dispatch is reporting the player to be goaltender Curtis McElhinney.

Vermette has eight goals and 19 assists in 60 games for the Blue Jackets, but has six seasons of at least 16 goals on his resume, plus 42 games of playoff experience with the Senators and Blue Jackets. Vermette also was part of the 2007 Senators team that played in the Stanley Cup Final.

He should help a Phoenix offense ranked 18th in the League at 2.57 goals per game.

The Coyotes, winners of eight of their last 10, enter Wednesday's games seventh in the Western Conference with 69 points, but just five points ahead of 10th-place Dallas.

Good pickup for Phoenix. CBJ got the worse part of that deal I think.

You weren't paying attention. He was on the ice in every big situation as an 18 year old in a 19 year old tournament. He was physical and opportunistic.

The more I think about it the more i say we need to get Nash.

This is our year, the stars are aligning perfect for us for the most part and we need that one extra player to push us
over the top. We have players playing in their prime right now like Lundqvist, Girardi and Callahan, and for the most part
we are injury free, cept for Sauer. We have players believing in a great system put forward by Torts but we just need
that one more elite scorer that should help solve a few problems. We have great perimeter players like Gabby and Richards
but we need a player like Nash who crashes the net and makes a living dangling around player and going hard to the front.

I for one don't want to look back 4-5 years from now when we didn't make this move, and we have a lineup with Kreider, Miller,
and others in it but by then we have core players now who play has decline and we are still a decent team but will never
be that team that will fully compete for the cup.

This year we have that team though, its not about the future, its about now, and its about the Cup.

Get Nash here...

And now people here actually believe Carter was a malcontent. Hilarious. The smear campaign really worked well.
It's sad how easily a players reputation is destroyed. He likes to party, but you'd be hard pressed to find many guys in their twenties that don't.

He's getting the minutes that Dubinsky used to get, but he's the redundant one? Not sure how that works.

the whole US squad was underwhelming.

The only kid on US that had a good tourney was Austin Watson. Everyone else not so much.

no, i was paying attention thank you very much.

Sure, he was physical, and sure he put up some points, 1/2 of which he put up in the shellacking against Denmark...but on a shift by shift basis, he looked slow, not really all that much of a difference maker. You never really looked at him and said...man that kid is having a great game...week...tournament.

ppl have these blinders on that just because a kid is drafted by us means he MUST have had a good tournament while everyone else sucked. sometimes, everyone sucks, even our kid.

1 tournament does not a career make, i havent watched him at all in juniors, so im basing whether he is untradeable or not on a very small, probably very biased sample size, but it's all I have to work with, and, imho, he was very pedestrian at the WJC.

btw, Chris Kreider, as an 18 year old, led team USA in goal scoring, so this whole, 18 year old in a tournament with 19 year olds, is moot.
