Seriously. BP74, you should be happy we're having a good time with things instead of tearing into him for last night's game.

I just fail to see how one could enjoy bashing the goalie. To me, that attitude only implies that one isn't at all concerned about addressing the real issues.

Bryz has sucked on a ton of different goals this year. He had one bad goal last game. The team pulled him, and themselves, out of a bad place. But Bryz didn't "give up 4 goals". The team did. Bryz blew on one of them, but the other 3 are goals which were a team failure. You cannot look at 4 goals and say Bryz sucked because he had a horrid goal go in. Pavelec was stellar but was still beat 5 times. Not every one he let in was a highlight reel effort by the shooter...

I don't see how you can say he had a bad game...fourth goal was terrible. Other 3 were not a goaltending issue.

Was pavelec better...yes...he had to be, it could have easily been 8-4 final...

Soon he will be getting blamed for empty netters..."he's out of position!"

I completely agree with you here but I think most people are just angry because WHEN WILL BRYZ PLAY A GAME LIKE PAVELEC JUST DID??? When will Bryz earn his $10 million???

You are going to be waiting a while.
He's not an athletic goalie. He's not going to make the athletic breakdown save routinely. I mean if you watched the 2 Det po series you would have seen that. They broke the phx d system apart....and exposed the goalie.

The times that bryz has been agressive he seems to get beat (poke checks and such).

I don't understand how the first goal isn't a bad goal. Unscreened shot from the point...gotta have that.

I also don't understand how anybody can continue to fervently defend him.

Then why did we sign him for 9 years/$51 million and make him the highest paid goalie this season?

Not unscreened, 3 people screening...coburn directly in front of bryz. One out high in front of Buf and one not in front of the shot but in front of bryz.

I don't really care about bryz...I hope we deal him bc the contract sucks...I'm just objective about this...
Put yourself in that position...reasonably what more could you have done (if you were Able to be an NHL goalie, ect)?

a question for the next 9 years...

IMO I do think he will be VERY solid as he has shown in ANH, phx, and in many of his wins here...if...IF he gets a little more consistent team defense effort.

Meh, well from the video and what both Jets/Flyers announcers said, it looked unscreened.

And on the "defense of bryz" front....we have goalie problems every damn year...I can't believe every goalie we have had has been "bad".

The year we made it to the SCF the team made leighton look real good by giving him cherry picked shots against. When we hit a team that could roll 3 lines he got exposed for the steady (solid positioning), but flawed goalie (slow as dirt) he is...

And it's still Buff shotting a one-timer from a cross ice-pass. Bryz got there but got his pad down a half a second too late. That's where the speed of Buff's shot comes in, moreso than the ability of Bryz imo.

exactly correct: you DON'T understand.

the pads are 11 inches wide. when you are down, that means 11 inches high.

he was in perfect position for a PP one time bomb from Buff .... the puck was 11 3/4 inches off the ice [over the pad that was there]

Every see Pronger, Chara, Souray blast one in on the PP one-timer ?? .... he got over there, the puck was above his pad ... but, of course it's Bryz & you must fervently attack him ...

one bad goal. then he showed some balls & bounced back & got the win ... yet you try to invent a 2nd bad goal & act like they lost ...

Its not the only slapshot from the point he has let in. It always seems to be a "blaster" so he gets a pass.

Flyers broadcast showed it from behind Buf view. Guys were there...

The 4th goal though...that's unscreened...

Ok your right. Since he was screened, he gets a pass. Like honestly I dont know why I debate anymore. Any deflections? Automatic pass. Screened shot? Automatic pass. Shot at either faceoff circles? Automatic pass. Breakaway? Automatic pass. Wraparounds? Automatic pass.

Like honestly, what is he supposed to save...

And just inches too...as it deflected at the last second off his pad.

Sometimes you have to credit the shooter...

Was it save able...sure...but there are many logical reasons why it wasnt saved....

Bryz has zero benefit of the doubt on that Buff shot because he lets so many of those one time blasts into the net.
