Gaustad to the Pens

Dustin Jeffrey enough to get it done?

I'd like to see what DJ's upside is here, but with the market the way it is, it may take a bit more to nab him. Pens need a playoff proven defensive center especially with Sid's status up in the air. Wouldn't mind resigning him if Staal moves up in the top 6 permanently when we're healthy.

I think I'd do it, definitely if we lose one of the games this weekend. Not sure how Pens fans feel about this one. Jeffrey's a center right?

Sabres would probably want a 2nd rounder + middling center prospect, although I have to admit that I don't know much about Jeffrey.

Jeffrey has been tried at Wing here but he's a center IMO. Defensively responsible and definitely has top 9 potential offensively.

Jeffrey + 2nd would be considered

I expect Gaustad to be in VERY high demand on Monday. He's going for an overpayment.

Ehhh. I'd let another team get him. He's not at Moore's value plus Jeffrey. But I agree he should be in high demand. Buffalo would be wise to wait til the last minute to get the most they can.

Just think we match up well. He fills a big need here and you need centers.

Veilleux can't stay healthy - you don't want him, trust me.

Jeffery + 2nd is a little too much...reduce the pick or the player...

Jeffrey + 3rd? I can't see the Pens doing Jeffrey and a 2nd. I think Jeffrey could break out with more opportunity at center, which he'd definitely get in Buffalo.

Alright then....

- Dustin Jeffrey
- conditional 2nd/3rd 2012 draft pick (2nd if PIT reaches ECF, 3rd if not)

Yes?

I'd say Jeffrey and a conditional 3rd/4th would be enough....plus I'd prefer to keep that second for another deal since if we get Gaustad, that doesn't really shore up any of our pressing needs outside of a good faceoff man. The only issue with that is though I assume he pushes Vitale out of the lineup (there's no way DB takes out Adams. Just won't happen), meaning wouldn't we only be getting a marginal faceoff upgrade?

The mroe I think about it I'd rather just keep our assets and use them for another deal, even though Gaustad would be a good upgrade as a player.

The Sabres are trying to re-sign Gaustad.

I've heard Gaustad to Chicago for Pirri-or-Saad and a pick.

Pirri I could see but Saad + pick is a very high price for a guy like Gaustad.

Don't tell him that, it makes it better for us.

Would like Gaustad on the Pens.

I think he would be a great fit on the 3rd line. Reminds me a bit of Mike Rupp and what he did with the Pens, but Gaustad has a little more offensive skill to his game. I would be for a swap of Jeffery for Gaustad. But I think the Sabres would ask for a pick as well.

Vitale would be pushed out of the lineup if Sid comes back, we get a winger upgrade and TK isn't moved. I dunno if I see all those coming true.

I want a winger upgrade and I don't want to rely on Sid coming back. If Vitale is pushed out of the lineup b/c TK and Adams are in over him, that's DB's choice.

I like this, but I'll go ahead and guess that Gaustad resigns before the deadline.

Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Sullivan-Crosby-Staal
Cooke-Gaustad-Kennedy
Adams-Vitale-Dupuis
**Asham, Park, O'Reilly

I'd prefer to think of it as competition. The way Vitale is playing ... he may earn his spot over the veteran Park. However, come playoff time ... I could see DB going with Park instead of Vitale (which is a shame). Gaustad is a horse. He terrorized us on Sunday. Would LOVE to see him in the Pens system!

And if anyone wants to dispute the Staal on Crosby's wing. Have you watched what a puck-possessing, offensive beast he has been throughout this season? What Neal is to Malkin, Staal could be for Crosby. However, if Sid doesn't come back ... then we ABSOLUTELY need to grab a winger for that second line. WHO COULD FIT THAT???

Jeffrey is good.

I would rather trade 2nd rounder + middling center prospect than Jeffrey
