Dubinsky, McIlrath, Thomas, 2 or 2 firsts.

Or at worst we keep one of Kreider or Erixon and not lose both. We aren't losing any roster players other than Dubinsky if a deal happens and I will stake my reputation on that.

Of all these so called insiders, I trust/believe MacKenzie the most. He rarely reports rumours, but rather comments on them, and is usually quite accurate with what he says. Mac said on TSN's the Quiz, that he believes Nash is staying in Columbus (Dreger said SJ, Lebrun thinks NYR), which leads me to believe, that he thinks the offers, including NYR's, are not sufficient to move Nash.

Therefore IF Nash is traded to us, don't be surprised if the return is similar to what ATL got for Kovalchuk (ie. peanuts).

Awwwww. <3

Regarding the choices of Bobby Mac, Pierre, and Dreger; I trust the former two the most. Dreger is slowly moving down my list of trusted sources, although he is still far from illegitimate.

Dubinsky, McIlrath, Thomas, Fasth, St. Croix, Fogarty, 1st round pick.

Combination.

No reason to cave in on our side.

There's a lot of talent there. 3-4 pieces of that talent should suffice for one guy with a huge cap hit.

If I'm Howson I'm taking C.K. So I guess I could live with Dubi, C.K., McIlrath, (2) 1st's.. ? Counter or accept if you're Sather

I agree no current roster player's outside Dubi as well...

I'd be pretty pissed if Kreider held up a trade for Rick Nash. As long as you aren't giving up any major roster players, it's a deal you have to make.

Kreider is the best player/prospect i'd be willing to part with. I really don't want to part with him though. I really hope that he doesn't go the other way if we trade for Nash.

What if Kreider is part of the package for Nash and then immediately signs with New York soon after?

Kreider is too much of a risk for Columbus, being that he's unsigned.

No its not a deal you have to make. That's the point.

And if you think the Rangers are trading him, I wouldn't hold my breath. They're not.

The organization has given every indication that they think Kreider is going to be a major contributor to the team very soon. If they are of that opinion, then I'm sure they'd be very leery of moving what they expect to be an impact player on a very cheap contract for an impact player on a huge contract.

I doubt Howson even knows that. He's probably just thinking "ooh that Kreider kid looks pretty good!"

"Sir, he's unsigned."

"Yeah contracts and stuff like that. Done deal!"

*One year later*

"Chris Kreider signs with New York Rangers; ditches club that traded for him in blockbuster Nash deal."

Agreed with the bolded. The Kovalchuk trade was the following:

Oduya (struggling second pairing defenseman)
Bergfors (Devils #3 prospect)
Cormier (Devils #5 prospect)
2010 1st (lower 1st)
2010 2nd

for

Kovalchuk
Ansi Salmella (bottom pairing/7th defenseman)
2010 2nd (high 2nd)

Yes, Kovalchuk was a rental, but a strong argument exists that Nash's cap hit and the NMC diminishes his value.

Dubinsky + 2 prospects (not Kreider or Erixon) + 1st + 2nd

for

Nash + 2nd

If Columbus says no, I certainly won't be losing any sleep. I'm hesitant to even offer that much, and would be very leery if the prospects were Miller + McIlrath.

I agree personally. Erixon is a much better fit for Columbus being that he is signed, in NA, NHL-ready, and they can immediately give him a shot to play.

Will Sather trade him, given how we acquired him and his relationship with Jan? Who knows.

Most I go is Dubinsky, Wolkski, Sauer, Thomas, Zuccarello, first rounder

If they say no whatever , move on and make another deal

You're dealing for a highly regarded offensive threat in the NHL, you don't want to part with any current roster player's other than a guy (Dubi) who's currently stinking it up and you don't wanna send me your top prospect in a deal? I'd laugh and hang up the phone. In this scenario you'd be right, no deal.....

Yeah right. This isn't a desperation move for the Rangers. Either they make the deal on their terms or they don't make the trade at all and explore other options.
