You could argue its easier financially to get Nash and sign all of our RFA's.
Simple. Trade Dubinsky in the offseason. Or package Marc Staal for blue chip prospects or good young players on ELC.

If not, trade Gaborik on his final year of his contract.

Gaborik's contract ends in 2 years. Nash's goes much further.

The only thing I like about Nash's game over Gaborik's is that Nash can actually stick handle with the puck... Both are one dimensional players who aren't noted for their play away from the puck.

I was listening to my NHL radio thing online and they said McGuire was going to talk. Anyone know if he said anything about Nash?

You mean the same Anisimov who has more goals, more points in fewer minutes per game than Dubinsky?

That Anisimov?

But Dubinsky has grit! And is American! More than that Russian guy can claim!

Seriously, though, Dubinsky traded over Arty easily...easily. Dubinsky has no place on this team with a $4.2M cap hit IMO.

Yeah, not sure i get that line of thinking at all.

Id trade either for Nash, but I definitely would be trying to push Dubi on them, not AA.

With AA you can have a legit top line of AA-Stepan-Gabby and have a "2nd" line of Nash-Richards-Callahan...

then next year a 3rd line of Kreider - JT Miller - Hagelin (if you wanna go REAL young)

now if you'lll excuse me, i need to change my pants.

Gabby's play away from the luck goes very underrated here. He's one of the very few snipers in the league that shows any interest in back checking.

Ours. I dont know. I just think Slats wants more offense brought in, and Dubi is expendable right now. Like I said, dont know how to feel about it. Dubi going doesnt bother me, its which of our prospects are we giving up.

The more I think about it and the more rumors I listen to, I want this to happen. Cannot wait for a line up of

Nash-Richards-Callahan
Kreider-Stepan-Gaborik
Hagelin-Anisimov-Thomas
Rupp-Boyle-Prust

If Kreider lives up to his potential we have 6 great top 6 players with quite possibly one of the best 4 lines in all of hockey. Then our third line will be young, home grown, and exciting. Make it happen Glen.

I agree. I don't get where all this "Gaborik doesn't play defense" nonsense comes from. These people obviously don't watch him closely. He has saved more than a few goals this season with his backcheck

Yep.

Lemaire coaching him in Minnesota has made him a SMART defensive player. If he focused on it more often, he'd be damn good in that facet; he's already adequate, at worst.

Blocks shots an throws bodychecks too. Hes a gamer.

I dont get all this talk of Gabby is off the books in 2 years stuff either. Hes obviously not going to sign a contract as large as the one he just got, Id love to have him back at a lower cost.

For what he brings on the offensive side, the fact he's not a defensive negative is a blessing in itself. The fact hes decent at it is fantastic.

I would too, but I don't know if he would do it. He could probably get paid somewhere.

If it were Ilya Dubinsky and John Anisimson I wonder how many people would make those claims.
