Chose to go to a bar at 6:30 PM (12:30 AM in my time zone) instead of watching the game. Came back at 04:00 AM and saw that it obviously was the right decision.
I understand, but when I don't care, I don't care. This team, after two decades, is still such a disaster. Whatever rivalry we had has fizzled into nothing, and ownership/management keeps force feeding us the same crap year after year. Let the Rangers win it all, it won't phase me in the least. I simply don't care!
I don't care about the Isles much either these days. I don't go to the games anymore and I barely watch on TV. To me, there is a ton of great hockey to watch every night so why watch a minor league team? That said... I still hate the rags with everything in me. Just because the isles are a joke doesn't mean my hatred for that team and those fans goes away. I have a sickening feeling that they are going to win it all this year. I actually predicted it before the season. But I'd love nothing more than for them to crash out of the playoffs in a fiery explosion. I wish nothing but immense failure on that team and especially their low life scum of the earth fans.
What ticks me off about the Rags the most is that they are actually a younger team than the Isles are. They surrounded their youth with a few all star caliber players who are still in their prime & look at them. I hope they don't win the cup, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. They are a very good team.
The Rangers have also spent the same "Islanders rebuild" years drafting primarily in the teens and twenty's. But their kids are working out. Save for JT, so far our development of "our" kids is atrocious.
Lost my accounting job over a year ago, haven't found anything since. Stuck driving a town car 70hrs a week, never see my family, gf, anyone...and the isles are my one vice while I drive around...life does get worse than just this team. I'm living it
Bro, I feel your pain. I am in Advertising/Graphic Design. After working for the same Company for nearly 10 years, got laid off over 2 years ago. I am now relying on freelance and odd jobs. No one in that industry is hiring back full time in any amount of mass. Don't believe the MSM, the economy has not improved one bit, it has been bottom bouncing for the last 4 years. Kind of like our Islanders the last 2 decades

I think its more that there kids actually have players to play with
Absolutely nobody on this team has a plan. Neither does management.
there is a very clear plan. Spend as little as possible while staying as close to the cap floor as possible.
I don't see ANY roster decisions that don't map EXACTLY to that plan.
I think player development and winning are so far removed from "the plan" - the obvious reason why the results on the ice are what they are.
ADD: an incompetent GM and/or pro-scouting to think that the last few pieces to get to the floor are players who SHOULD be able to help you. Besides the fiscal decisions, someone decided the dollars spent on Rolston, Staios, Pandolfo, Reasoner, Comeau, Mottau would help the team. They have not.
Someone decided Niederreiter was ready to make the jump to the NHL.
Someone decided to spend long term money on Grabner and Okposo who look terrible this year.
I don't see any players, added by "the plan", who are helping the team.
It's really hard to be that incompetent. Success happens by ACCIDENT more frequently than it happens by design on Long Island.

No, the Rangers surrounded those kids with competent veteran players as well as actually letting their prospects develop before shoving them into the spotlight. Did they overpay for them? Sure. But, I know I would feel alot better with the guys the Rangers have surrounding Stepan, Callahan, etc. than our **** players.

Snow must go!
I'd rather overpay players and win than get good deals on mediocre players and lose.
Why not? If it's going to hurt, it might as well hurt bad!
That's an interesting philosophy, but I'm going to have to disagree with that one.
I will never support the Rangers in any sort of way. Doesn't matter if the Islanders are winning or losing or if they are located in Nassau, Brooklyn, Quebec, China, or Australia. I will always hate that franchise.
