It's time for the Islanders to man the **** up and become an organization moving forwards. No offense to the Kings fans, but unless Jack Johnson is coming back the other way, there is no chance I trade Okposo (knowing full well I'd have to add more to the deal).

Okposo is a damn fine player who is having a boatload of trouble playing under the pathetic Islanders organization and the pathetic "coaching" of Jack Capuano. Under Scott Gordon he looked like a future high end 2nd liner, now no one knows what he is because of the Isles' completely unstructured and nomadic "system."

So unless the Kings are willing to give up Johnson, and I mean Johnson - NOT Voynov, NOT a 1st round pick, NOT Forbort, Hickey, whoever else - I am not trading Okposo there.

The Islanders need to move forwards, getting more prospects - even "sure things" are way too variable and not what this team needs.

(Post Disclaimer: I am fully aware the Islanders are a joke team who won't even spend to the cap floor, making the majority of this rant a moot point.)

but the isles are going to trade a guy who they believe is a part of their core and have wrapped up in a sweet heart deal for a prospect? it doesn't matter if the kid is a gifted defenseman. i believe that snow would only deal okposo for a proven talent.

I understand. But, if the islanders got voynov, you won't be upset.

Nobody even know of this rumor has legs. So, it could be nothing.

Actually, yes I will be.

I am fully aware of the talent that Voynov possesses. That does not mean the Islanders need to go backward, despite what the idiots that run the show think.

you are right about the rumour. it likely has no legs.

with regards to voynov, perhaps the kings feel his development makes johnson expendable? honestly, i can't see the isles interest in any other defender on la's roster for one reason or another.

No he's right actually. Bernier has a very good chance of being someone's future franchise goaltender. Okposo is a dude that might be a 25 goal scorer. Easy choice.

On a related note, there's no way in hell the Isles are getting JJ for Okposo unless another significant pieces goes to LA.

I don't see this as a solution for the Kings. I can see Lombardi being interested in Okposo, but he is not going to be an offensive catalyst for the Kings and it seems to me that that is what they need most.

They already have Mike Richards and Dustin Brown who play a similar style game, but are far better than Okposo.

If there's any truth to this, I think Voynov makes the most sense considering what the Islanders would be seeking in trade.

And then we (obviously) have no deal.

Any Isles fan rushing to move Okposo, unless it's for a king's ransom (that is really not an intended pun) is missing the point and scapegoating for the obvious.

It would be kind of sad to see Okie traded, he was always one of my favorite players, and I still think its only a matter of a good coach and some confidence before he explodes into a 65 point player. However something just seems a bit off with him for some reason.

We really do need some guys on our blue line though, we lose a lot of games because we can't get the puck out of our own zone, and we desperately need a transition game.

Agreed.

Okposo is not as "obviously" physical as the other guys, you won't see him throw his body out for a big check often, but if he's coached right he is an absolute monster against the walls.

As far as the actual Islanders go, probably. As far as what the Isles should be looking for, not even close.

i believe you are incorrect. it would not make sense for the islanders to trade a player who management appears to believe is a part of their core while on a sweet heart deal for a prospect.

this is terrible IMO. Okposo is underachieving but the potential is there. What are the Islanders trying to do, keep losing? I dunno I guess it's ok, it seems like Snow has only made lateral moves. Once again Lombardi seems to be a few pennies short. This might blow up in his face........or Snows, lets see what it costs.

Who knows, both teams can not attract free agents, maybe a hockey deal is in the works.
