...Except you are kind of being forced to read it, or at least sift through it, if you're looking for any kind of substantial or significant or even relevant discussion.

I think realistically a 2012 1st, Dubinsky, Wolski (cap dump), and Erixon gets it done. Packages for superstars usually don't even get this generous. People tend to overestimate what it takes to acquire players like Nash from rebuilding teams. They want to get rid of him.

McKenzie said the Kings are out. It's down to Rangers or Sharks.

And if the organization had their heart set on dealing for him, at least that package wouldn't make me vomit. Nash is a clear upgrade over Dubinsky, the 1st will be a late one and that pick won't be playing for several years, and while Erixon has big upside and could be a future #2, fortunately we are pretty well stocked on D. I still cringe at what that 7.8M cap hit will do to us 2 summers from now, particularly with the uncertainty of the CBA, but if they deal for him I'll certainly be rooting for him to light the lamp every night. At his price tag he better.

I had a nightmare last night that the Rangers traded Dubinsky (not so bad) and Del Zotto (NOOOOOOO) for Nash.

The messed up part is that I woke up talking to Columbus GM Scott Howsen on the phone. I was negotiating with him saying "Listen, Dubsinky is fair game, but we can not trade Del Zotto," which didn't make any sense because the trade had already gone down. Then I realized this and looked at my phone. I was not holding my phone. I was holding nothing and pressing my hand up against my ear like I was on the phone. I then immediately passed out.

I think my body woke up before my brain did...

I believe he speculated this. I don't think he said it as if it were fact.

Oog. Yeah, they did. I think last night's loss was haunting for them.

But what does it mean for them to go over the edge for Nash? They already traded their best package last summer (unless guys like Brown are suddenly under consideration.) More to the point, what does it matter if Nash won't waive to go there...?

It's people like you and stories like this that make me proud to be a hockey fan. That is a great story. Would make an even better commercial!

Thanks I guess. It was such a fail honestly lol. I have dreams about the Rangers more than anything else.

Makes even more sense when you consider this:

Didn't realize they were on that bad a run. Blew a big lead against the team directly ahead of them last night, get routed tonight. Perhaps as a previous poster suggested, the loss did put the Kings over the edge... to becoming sellers. (Even though they're still technically in 8th place.)

Seems like 50/50.

Mayhap the loss did put the Kings over the edge... to becoming sellers.
Did you mean to post "perhaps" or "maybe"? Combination of both?

That would be interesting, though....that team cannot score for the life of 'em. Lombardi should have given Kovalchuk what he wanted.

I don't think LA is on Nash's list of teams he'd like to be traded to.

The fan base seems split over it. I personally am against it because if we got Nash for Dubinsky + Kreider + Thomas + Picks we would have a very hard time resigning our core RFA's such as Del Zotto/McDonagh/Erixon(eventually)/Anisimov. I just don't think the deal would be worth it in the long run, especially when Kreider projects to be a 25+ goal forward in the future. If it aint broke don't fix it.

You know, I knew - KNEW - I would get this from one of you, so I edited it to be "perhaps." Not quickly enough I see.

Edjumacate yourself:

may·hap/ˈmāˌhap/
Adverb:
Perhaps; possibly.
Synonyms:
maybe - perhaps - perchance - possibly

(Fine, I'm an English major nerd - I admit it.)

If you asked me this last week, I'd say the majority of the fans were against the idea of trading for Nash. So maybe 30 Yes/70 No.

As the team struggles to find offense though, I think its become 50/50.

I'm JUST starting to come around to the idea.

Well then, I'm glad I could help you bring your vocabulary closer to perfect.

Bringing it back on topic, with the Kings recent nosedive and the pack of five teams breathing down their collective neck, it might actually behoove them to be sellers.

That's the position I was advocating the last couple of years when it was clear that the Rangers were bound for a short season even though they were still technically in the race at the trade deadline. In a lower pressure market perhaps the Kings can actually make that decision...
