Best players to retire from late 90s to 2000s?

Just trying to come up with a list of the best players to play and retire after 97 and was hoping that someone can fill in whoever I forgot. There are some like Pat LaFontaine or Gartner but those guys retired right at 97-99 and were already at the end of their career so I don't mind excluding them. Ignore the inclusion of the six Avs at the bottom (I'm an Avs fan). Obviously not being too strict with the criteria and apologies if my choices are weird or I leave out someone because I was a kid at the time so I don't remember it too well. If anyone is wondering, this is for the purposes of helping me get some hockey cards

Here's a complete list.

http://www.hockey-reference.com/play...rder_by=points

Beware that it's sorted by points in their final season. Therefore you may need to scan the whole list to spot some top-end players, ie Chris Chelios as #1086, or sort it differently.

One who sticks out as easy-to-miss is Sergei Makarov.

^ Thanks. It actually is possible to use the filter to see things like most minutes played or most points scored etc between say 97 and present from all players who have retired and you can set it to first year of their career to last so not just the last year and combine stats from multiple seasons rather than just one. Here are some others worth mentioning, not in the same category but they were good NHL regulars. Sakic (821), Sundin (791), Kovalev (775), Recchi (770), and Modano (764) were the top retired scorers from 97 to present.

Nedved
Smolinski
Hrudy
