I know that, Calder and all. Just don't remember that extension. That's news to me lol. Something tells me it had something to do with Pegula taking over the Sabres this past off-season. Am I right?

Hell yeah, I almost think almost any player traded here would be amped for a opportunity to get in the playoffs and try to win the cup, and hopefully do what is asked by the coaches/mgm.

And like Booth last season, they settled for Higgins, so in theory we'll get Jason Blake or Hagman.haha

5 days away. i think gillis will make deals either on sunday or early monday morning. i don't really want b.allen on this team. he's a leftie... van has an abundance of those. they only have 3 righties. 4 if you count nolan baumgartner. salo/bieska/tanev.

I think a guy like Paul Gaustad could buy in easier to our system, however if they think they can get Ott to buy in then who knows. Would love to have either of these players, although I will admit I haven't seen a ton of Gaustad

I think Buffalo is trying to re-sign him. I'd still prefer Ott had I the choice.

I think Gillis will make his deal/deals right at the deadline unless something comes along he can't pass up.

He's patient, he's shrewd, he's like a snake stalking his prey and when the time comes he will bite it's throat.

Not sure how ad nauseum this will be, but I'm looking at post-season right-wing acquisitions. The possibilities for UFAs would be Semin and Parenteau mainly, although the latter will most likely resign in NYI. Would a discounted Semin (5 to 5.5 million at most) be of value to any of you? Or you think Connolly from a TB trade is a done deal at this point?

To be honest I think Parise would be the absolute best fit on this team as it would really give us an elite level of talent that plays a similar game to Kesler/Booth, possibly complimenting that line or making the Sedin line truly terrifying, but can the conversion to right wing take place? And how much do you think he'll ask? I see Semin and Parise as roughly the same value in a vacuum, but obviously trending in different directions after this season. I just can't see us signing Parise for more than 6 million though when you take into account Gillis' policy on discounted salaries. Guess it depends if Parise is after the money or really wants to win.

We saw it during our run with the media about how our team was divers, dirty, and the refs didn't do us any favors either and getting Ott would just add fuel to that fire

Getting Ott would be everything Gillis has tried to get rid of... unless he thinks he can get Ott to buy in

So? I think its clear that Gillis doesn't want those kind of players from the fact he made Kes, Burrows and Lappy all to stop the trolling/yapping

If Gillis doesn't think he can get Ott to buy in then I don't think hes interested

I dont think we've really seen Lappy stop his yapping. Kesler and burrows have.

Ott can yap all he wants, as long as he doesn't take stupid penalties. This guy would put us over the top, and we could still use another defensemen.

As much as I'd love to have Parise on the team, the Canucks would have to give up Hodgson++ for him, but Hodgson isn't going anywhere.

I think it's clear Gillis wants his players to play hockey and play it hard. Ott does so and there is no question the way he plays would really help the canucks. As with the others you mentioned, they'll ask him to tone the other stuff down and just play whistle to whistle. Gilis didn't trade them and in the case of LaPierre he actually acquired such a player that was playing the way he didn't like.

I think Jack Edwards would have a stroke if the Canucks acquired Ott. That's a solid point in the "pro" column as far as I'm concerned

Steve Ott would be awesome on the Canucks, could you imagine Lapierre, Burrows and Ott on the ice at the same time? Ultimate troll line.
With the way AV likes to mix up lines right after the PP they could end up getting a few shifts together.

Jack Edwards is the epitome of a homer. John Garrett has a long way to go to reach that level of homerism.

Besides I'm not sure what he's complaining about, Ott is just a little guy and is just defending himself.
