Wasn't he the one arguing with Lavy down in Dallas? And boasting to G about his faceoff percentage on nhl.com, before losing the draw to him?

I like Ott, he's a **** disturber, but he's also a good hockey player. He is signed for the next two years at 2.95M though. Can't see why we would take on that contract with the forwards we already have on the team (and potentially re-signing Jagr as well).

Do not want. Our forward corps is plenty deep, and we have a lot of quality young players who can fill holes when needed.

Ott or Gaustad would be a great addition on this team. Big bodies physical presence.....why wouldn't we want that?????

I'd be all over getting Steve Ott. The dude is a complete ***** but he's the kind of ***** you want on your team. He's like the old Sean Avery before he got to NY and went all weird, but he's better.

There are some players you hate on other teams, but would love to have on your own team ... and then there are Ott and Avery. I absolutely have no interest in players of their ilk.

You guys are nuts. Avery I agree with, but Ott is a good hockey player. He is one of, if not the best, agitators in the league (both in terms of agitation and hockey skill). He is a pain to play against and does in a way that doesn't go above and beyond like what Avery does.

Isnt this why Zac Rinaldo is on the team? How many agitators does a team need?

Ott's cap hit is too high for what he'll bring to the Flyers IMO.

If they can get Ott, Rinaldo wouldn't be needed. I love Rinaldo but I'd rather have Ott. Gotta put your past hatred aside if he were to come here. Max Talbot was probably top 5 in my most hated players of recent memory...until July. I assume many of you felt the same way.

I like Rinaldo but he's not close to the player that Ott is. Cap hit may be a little to high though. I'd like him or Gaustad.

Hartnell-Giroux-Simmonds
Read-Briere-Jagr
Voracek-Schenn-JVR
Couturier-Ott/Gaustad-Talbot

That is a tough lineup to play against.

Exactly. Although I think what people keep pointing out (cap hit) would make it difficult to actually get him here. And he has a NTC. but if they can make it work somehow without shuffling the lineup too much (i.e. waive Shelley...) I'd be all over this.

At nearly 3 Million, and term on Ott's contract, I'd much rather bring Jagr back given we have Simmonds, Talbot, Sestito, Rinaldo currently in the fold who can provide the proverbial 'Agitator' role, and at least 2 of those guys bring it every night.

IMO Ott doesnt add anything we don't already have.

If we are going to add, I'd prefer it to be a 4th line role player who is good on the draw. Someone like Samuel Pahlsson comes to mind, he's UFA after this season but makes 2.6 against the cap. We'd need to shed $1.5 to bring him on by my calculations.

Thats Shelley when factoring in how much space they will have on deadline day.

You can hate Ott all you want but when it comes to fore-check, he is one of the best in business. Like most people mentioned he is also kills penalties, takes faceoffsal 56-57%.
His contract is around 3M. A little too pricey. I am not sure why guys compare Ott to Avery or Rinaldo. Ott is team 1st guy unlike Avery and Ott is a hell of a lot better player than Rinaldo. You do not put Ott on 4th line.

I would put:
Hartnell Giroux Voracek
Ott Briere Jagr
JVR Schenn Simmonds
Read Coutrier Talbot

There's no need for Steve Ott. we already have 10 top 9 forwards, with the youngest centering the fourth line to keep his TIO down so he doesnt burn out by the time the playoffs arrive. Ott would be a luxury, not a necessity and is not needed. I'm thinking the Flyers are done, unless a fourth line player becomes available who is cheap and can win draws. And he can be had for cheap. They most likely are done I think. (of course on TDD Homer will shock us all since I think they are done)

Ott is one of my favorite players in the league, I would love to have him on our team. I really don't know where you could fit him in the line up though. Having a player that costs are much as he does on the 4th line just doesn't make sense. If there's a way we could ship out some forwards and get him on the 3rd line I'd be all for it. He is the type of player every team wants and the type of player every team hates to play against.

Talbot was more hated for being dirty and trash talking but never backing it up. I really do believe that that Islanders game put him in his place a bit. He is still a good defensive forward that is good on the pk and is a solid team player though.

Ott on the other hand is great for sure. What he has done against Iginla is truly great. I would love him on the Flyers.

I'm pretty sure the Flyers actually scored on that possession as well, so not only did he brag about it, then lose the faceoff, but they scored from the point forcing that crow down his throat.

I think anyways....may have just dreamt that.

Only reason I compare him to Avery is that he does what Avery does...but better. He gets under the skin, hits, forechecks, scores, etc. Avery is great (or at least, was great) at getting under the skin of opposing players and at one point backed up with good play similar to Ott. Now Ott is probably the best in the business at being one of those sandpaper type guys, while Avery toils away in Hartford. I'd love Ott on this team, but I'm just not sure it is possible with the cap situation unless they make some other moves, which may not be worth it.
