Can anyone confirm this report. WestIslander is known for misinterpreting/misreporting what is said on the radio.
Also are these three names that are circling or three names Marinaro has come up with.
This is nothing but Marinaro speculating. I Wish people would stop posting what this guy yaps about on his show. At no time did he say that he had heard these names from legit sources. He was simply hypothesizing.

So the WestIslander "I heard the following on the radio" is once again misreported. I'm not surprised.
Marc Bergevin is my choice...not a household name but a great track record the last few years in Chicago at various levels throughout their organization, I'm a little concerned that it may be too early in his managerial career to become GM of a team like the Habs, but it's the kind of bold move i'd like to see this organization take...
Tony is simply speculating and also tooting McGuire's horn. All three are viable options. But do not take this as as confirmed thing. Pure speculation.
Pierre M. is my choice, as long as he has an excellent and experience assistant.
He knows the importance of having many prospects and draft picks in the pipeline, so it would be unlikely he would cause heavy long-term damage were he to 'not succeed'.
My neighbour's dog's best friend's owner 's cousin told me that Pierre is moving back to Montreal this summer and has already enrolled kids in private school as he'll be working in Montreal.
I like Julien Brisebois but I really question a guy who continuously pushes for the signing of Tom Pyatt (in Mtl and TBL).
Tom Pyatt, 25 years old, who is playing the hardest opposition on his team, 34.7% offensive zone starts for 46% offensive zone finish.
Cap hit this year: 525.000
Cap hit for the next two years: 600.000
Seems like a very good move. Pyatt is not an offensive juggernaut but, looking at this, seems like he is not only a good defensive player but he can actually move the play in the right direction wich is a very valuable and underrated asset for a fourth liner. We could seriously use something like that to take some load of Plekanec, I'm sure he would appreciate not having to start 60% of his shift in the Dzone and it would show in his offensive output.
If that's the kind of moneypuck move he's going to make, I'll have a lot of trust in him.
Usually a bunch of small but smart moves beats a big stupid one. I think a moneypuck approach would be great, especially when I look at clubs like Phoenix and Vancouver and what they've done using advanced stats and all.
This morning, he went through every bad trade or signing the Habs have done and proudly "oinked" that he and McGuire were the only ones knowledgeable enough to know they were awful from the moment they happened.
Fatty also asked Flynn about Cammalleri and then wouldn't let him talk after Flynn contradicted him.

Whomever comes into the picture, I hope he brings ALOT of quality, experienced NHL scouts, talent developers, contract negotiators, and tacticians with him.

Regarding Marinaro, Melnick and McGuire: you'd hope most media outlets would be sensitive to conflicts of interest. Instead, these hosts have gone full steam ahead, pushing their colleague and friend.
Pierre seems too impatient. I kinda feel he'd be a much wiser kid playing NHL 12. He knows the players and prospects and that's a huge plus but his passion seems unbound and I don't want him to try too hard to get his types of players in. I fear the lengths he'd go to make his stamp on the team.

Maybe but Brisebois does strike me as a moneypuck kind of guy. He's definitively the kind of GM I think that would, for example, prefer trying to find a Malhotra than some generic tough guy for our fourth line.
I don't want Brisebois cause the guys will most probably keep Gainey and Gauthier with him. Clean house send everyone home including Gainey, get rid of him once and for all. Loved him as a player and person but he is no longer needed in management decisions
No Brisebois and no Damphousse, i'm ok with anyone else
