Wallace gives his all every shift and plays his role well in my opinion. Solid pick-up for their 4th line.

You can have worse players on your 4th line than Tim Wallace.

Chicago puts Carter Hutton on waivers. Seeing as he was on an AHL deal previously, Bob McKenzie this means he has been signed to an NHL deal.

Well sure, but are they really lacking the depth in the AHL to fill this spot? Or do they plan on unloaded a few forwards the next few days?

I guess you don't really lose anything by doing this move.

I could understand if this was a non-playoff team, but why the hell are the Hawks adding a guy like this? Not like he's done much in the AHL and Salak is there too.

I don't understand today.

Best of luck to Wallace! Didn't do much wrong but not a lot right either.

Hutton is a mediocre AHL goalie, which is still a step up from Alec Richards. We've got the contract spots, why not make sure we've got depth headed into the postseason.

Two things for Tampa with that move - it keeps the big club from raiding the Admirals for the coming playoff run, and they see something they like in him.

To upgrade the backup position.

This explanation doesn't make sense. He is worse than Crawford, Emery and Salak.

I couldn't make that statement until he got a chance to play with the Hawks. There is no basis to "assume" he is worse than Emery. Hutton could easily come to this team and hit .900, we don't know until he gets his chance.

maybe some other team (that might trade a G at the deadline) was asking about him, and his agent let the Hawks know about, so they inked him instead.

Pretty sure he means in the AHL, because Hutton is not even close to Emery.

It could also mean SY has another deal in the works to ship out a depth player such as Shannon or Hall.

That isn't exactly something I'd be proud of. My team is 29th overall and that wouldn't be acceptable.

I agree with you 1 million percent, believe me. But, sadly, that would be an upgrade over Emery.

I always liked Wallace when he was with the Pens. Very much a fringe NHL'er though. He seemed slow, especially for a player his size, but he played hard and physical just about every game. I liked that about him.

Basically this. The guy has a lot of heart and tries to play his role to the best of his ability. We just had way to many of his type already on pens...

Best of luck to him in Tampa, I hope he can make a place for himself on the roster.

It's not an act, the guy is one of if not the worst in the league, so anyone has a chance to best him. That's how competition works.

Not like your starter is making things much better. Emery is far from being your issue.

For that matter, we can't just assume that I would be worse than Emery, because I've never gotten a chance to play with the Hawks either. We just won't know until I get the chance.

I'll be sure to use this post while I negotiate my ELC with Bowman.
