If they get him for a package of Hammer+ picks/Frolik/Pirri/Olsen they should just fire Howson before the trade is faxed over to the NHL.
Saad and Leddy aren't worth it, Howson would still be a dumbasss to accept that trade considering what they gave up. Anyways, I don't see it happening, Cbus might as well keep him if they plan on being a real hockey team.

Given Carter's play , costs to team longterm , His hate of being in Columbus , etc
They have to move him. Cant have a guy who hates being there sulking every game , every year
How can Chicago afford Toews, Kane, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook, Carter, and still acquire a capable goaltender?
If Carter's on his way in, someone else is on their way out.
Cause Bowman dumped one of the worst contracts in NHL and his UFA's last summer were mostly 1 and done
Hawks also have plenty of cheap young talent NHL ready or on verge of NHL ready
Longterm moving Hjalmarsson is possible as Olsen has shown he can play at NHL level
But for next several years Hawks could fit Carter and be comfortable going forward. And Hawks still believe in Crawford so they wont be looking for a starter. If they do it wont be a high cost guy

Let me guess, you based that solely on what the media tells you without watching Carter play? Carter has been one of our best scoring forwards and does not look unhappy whatsoever. Just because our pissed off beatwriter is writing they want to get rid of him doesnt mean its entirely true. He's been wrong on many accounts before this. He also has never written anything about Carter being unhappy, bc he cant confirm it. That right there should tell you the reliability of his "sources". Quite frankly, Portzline doesnt know jack **** when it comes to trades or any of that biz. Hes a reporter that watches the games and does interviews. I love how people see a few links and run with it like its pure fact.

He's not playing that badly though, despite injury he's still contributing (.65ppg). It's not Carter's fault that the team has no chemistry. I agree they have to trade someone with such a piss poor attitude, but how can Columbus hope to get better if they keep making these trades.

Sorry but Carter refusing to speak to media or Jackets GM after trade , Various sources from well established guys like Bobby Mac saying he is miserable and wants out , His lax effort at times this year (Just look at his play vs Hawks this past weekend defensively) show he wants out

Going on one game where they got destroyed? Yea that makes all the difference. His refusing to speak to the media is understandable. The guy just signed a life long contract to play for Philly and had a handshake agreement he wouldnt be traded. He'd be pissed no matter where he went. Find me the BobbyMac tweet.
Bowman hangs up the phone the moment he hears Carter's name. Bad locker room guy, soft player, shows no effort, and has 10 years on a contract.
Bad locker room guy.. false
Soft player?... false
shows no effort? false.
has 10 more years on a contract.. true.
Again, not sure why you're concerned with his contract considering the ones we have on our roster... would be pretty hypocritical to think in that manner.

Bad locker room guy? He likes to party like an other mid 20 year old multi millionaire.
Soft player? Ask Ansii Salmela how his head is doing.
Shows no effort? Didn't he come back earlier than he should've to help Philly against in the playoffs with a metal rod in his broken foot?

You're talking about the past Carter. I'm talking about the present Carter.
We can agree to disagree, hope he never puts on an indian head jersey.

I find it hard to fault the guy for having some aggravation during this time. He signed a discount contract to get a long term deal with a NTC, that was yanked out from under him to go to Columbus. So now he's got a long term contract and no say in where he will play for 11 years. It would piss me off too. But, what did he really do wrong?

its because of the existing contracts that we cannot put another big contract on there...to much risk
