Ehm... I... What? You know what, you don't deserve a straight answer. It's because he looks better than Mason. The face of the franchise can't have a beard.

I don't understand. Mason has played less games and that's why he's the clear backup? Isn't that begging the question.

IMO their play hasn't been much different from one another. They've both had some stinkers and they've both won us some games. They have equal save percentage, MAson has a better GAA. Mason has 2 shutouts in 16 games vs Pav's 3 shutouts in 52 games.

Don't see the evidence for PAvlec beign a "clear number 1"

You can't actually be serious? If you can't see that Pavs is our number 1 goalie your not seeing clearly

Well, there's also the 'ride 'em when they're hot' theory, and below is all the evidence you need.

I see clearly that he is our number 1 cause he's played all the time. I don't see why he should be our clear number 1.

Mason made as equally good a save in the Minny game.

Personally think there are certain styles of goalies who make a lot of spectaular lookign saves cause they're poorly positioned while other Hall of fame goalies don't make amazing saves cause they're always in the right place.

I'm not saying Pavs isn't good, noty even saying that he shouldnt be our number 1, just saying Mason is also really good but has a different style that isnt as flashy so doesn't get the credit and that Pav's isn't so much superior to Mason that he should be the clear number 1.

Who's the number one in Carolina? Or who do you feel should be based off of these stats?

Cam Ward: 51 GP, 2.81 GAA, .911 SV%, 3 SO
Justin Peters: 5 GP, 2.80 GAA, .921 SV%, 1 SO

Or how about Detroit?

Jimmy Howard: 45 GP, 2.03 GAA, .924 SV%, 5 SO
Joey MacDonald: 8 GP, 1.66 GAA, .934 SV%, 0 SO

1) He's our #1 because he's more skilled than Mason.

2) He's younger and is a part of our core now and going forward.

3) Mason is clearly a backup goalie at this stage of his career.

4) Why are we having this conversation?

Lets play "Which one is number one?"

Last season, Player A had a sv% of .892 and a GAA of 3.39.

Player B had a sv% of .914 and a GAA of 2.73.

Now............... WHO.... IS.... NUMBER...... ONE??

Being a logical person, I'd say since A is the #1 letter of the alphabet, A would also be #1 in any other situation.

with Bogo out I have a bad feeling inside, could be the spicy chicken I had for lunch, but I just feel like our defense was barely holding it together without him until the Philly game and now they need a boost

I can't believe this conversation is even happening.

If you can't tell by simply looking at the games played, Then I don't know what to say.

Mason is a great backup. He provides veteran leadership and plays well when he's called upon. He has also played some of the easier games (Carolina)

And if you want to compare stats. If both goalies have the same stats. Would you rather play the goalie who's most likely in one of his last years in the league or would you play and very young goalie who's going to be one of the faces of your franchise for years to come.

Compare how many games vs playoff teams Pavs has played against as opposed to Mason, and the close stats have a different look to me.

If we had to roll with Mason for a bit, I think we'd do well (he hasn't shown otherwise this year), but Pavs is the goalie that we make the next step with. If Mason was 5-10 years younger, than this would be a conversation with more potential (because I agree with the argument of highlight reel saves vs saves made easy by knowing where to be).

C'mon, David Desharnais has "better stats" than Ovechkin. Wouldn't you rather have Desharnais on your first line?
