mcilrath isnt the sole piece in the deal. its a 4 for 1, not a 1 for 1.

nash may very well be a bluejacket after all is said and done, however, from the Jackets POV it makes more sense to trade Carter to LAK and Nash to NYR than Nash to LAK and Carter to nowhere.

Defensive depth. They have an AHL defense right now.

Johnson hasn't been very good in LA. Don't look at name. The Kings are dumping his contract for Carter's contract. Johnson has another 6 years remaining at a $4,357,143 cap hit.

Im starting not to care anymore. Just make the deal as long as no kreider. Just make it . Dubi, thomas, mcilrath, and a 1st. make the damn deal columbus. Either way your still in last place, its not helping your team with the star.

Honestly, when you have Brandon Dubinsky as your sole NHLer in a deal it seems obvious that you get a great prospect. I don't see Mcilrath being a great prospect. If it were Erixon, that's a different story.

Edit: Forgot about Thomas. Still is he considered a great prospect? Maybe great is too much, but how about very good? I'm just not that high on McIlrath, for all we know he's another Dale Purinton.

These threads are getting unbearable. It's just off topic rambling.
But the Mc in McDonagh is pronounced "Mick" phonetically... Not "Mack". That nickname doesn't make much sense for him IMHO.

Im thinking its Dubi, McIlrath, Thomas, 1st with Erixon swapped in for McIlrath as Sather's end game.

Said to look like:

Dubi
McIlrath
Thomas
1st

I don't think Erixon will be part of the deal. I can't see Sather trading him.

Thomas is boom or bust. Small, but has a great shot, in accuracy and power. Has decent speed, great hands. His major downfall is his size though.

Look at what Kovalchuk and Hossa brought back as rentals

Oduya
Bergfors
Cormier
1st round pick

for

Kovalchuk
2nd round pick

Armstrong
Crusher
Esposito
1st round pick

for

Hossa
Dupuis

Richards had 3 years remaining on his contract @$7.8M cap

Jokinen
Halpern
Smith
4th round pick(09)

for

Richards

The Rangers rumored offer/parameters

Dubinsky
Thomas
1st round pick
McIlrath?

for

Nash

That offer is not comparable. Come on.

personally I dont care what CLB wants and Sather should feel the same way

just offer the rumoured Dubinsky, McIlrath, Thomas, 1st......others like Zuccarello and later picks for Nash and I'd like Pahlsson too

if they say no, see ya later.........no need to buckle........I;m sure Sather has other options

I had the same thought as Zip just had on twitter, which is that LAK want their young D from LAK for Carter (Johnson) because they havent been able to get McD or MDZ from NYR.

Yeah it was reported yesterday that the Rangers do have other options out there and that they are waiting to see Nash through first before falling back on plan B and C etc.

Thats what Id offer them too. Im even on board with switching McIlrath with Erixon. I know im in the minority but part of me even wants to keep McIlrath over Erixon...

CBJ may know they're not getting Top 4 D from NY RT @ixnay818: @stevezipay Carter to LAK almost done. If Jack Johnson in, good news for NYR?

Dubi
McIlrath
Thomas
1st

Probably won't work because of the cap. We're taking $7.8 and moving $4.2. Need to move Wolski or something. Wolski is $3.8 of useless space.

I'd rather do this (but doubt CBJ does it):

Dubi
Wolski
McIlrath
1st (2012) + 2nd (2013)

I'm not a big advocate for acquiring Nash. If it can be done at the right price, so be it. I'm just weary of that huge contract coming this way and have to admit that I'm seeing shades of Redden/Drury/Gomez on their way back.

Seems to me that Sather and the Rangers are starting to get the hammer here in regards to negotiations.

Plenty of room with Duby going the other way.

Rangers are not right up against the Cap. They don't need to move more salary than Dubinsky. In reality, they don't need to move more salary than Rupp.

According to CapGeek we can add 6.3 million today with nothing going the other way.
