So they gave up Voracek, a 1st and 3rd and now they're getting JJ and a 1st (supposedly)? Seems steep considering he wants out and has a life long contract
Well.. Guessing it's all but done since McKenzie is tweeting it. This is the definition of a hail mary trade. Lombardi is backed into a corner and forced to make a move I'm sure he isn't too keen on. He, and myself obviously, really, really hopes it works out...
Coming from a Flyers fan, I think this will help you guys out a ton and Richards/Carter will return to form. I will hate all of you though if you win a cup before we do.

Couturier. There is a vast difference between LA's first and Columbus' first. Seems fair value. Imagine if we got Couturier, Voracek, and a 3rd for Johnson and our first this year. I would think that is slight overpayment on the Jackets side. Carter is a proven goal scorer and on a cheap deal. Fun fact: Carter right now is on pace for more goals (23) than any King (Kopitar, 22) is currently on pace for, all while missing 22 games and on the worst team in the league...

i would be extremely happy with anything as long as bernier still stays a king =P ... hope this **** goes through. now we can try voynov's full potential when the deal is done.
I've been pretty vocal in my criticisms of Jack, especially his mental lapses and CONSTANT turnovers of the puck on the PP. Sometimes he plays space cadet hockey. I'm not trying to bash on him but trading him makes sense. And everyone knows I don't like Dean. I'd honestly love this trade. It may take a system and organizational change to get the best out of Carter, but this will turn out well. It'll suck for a new GM to not have a first rounder to work with if that happens, but I'm good with the deal if it happens.
Carter and Richards in LA is a scary thought though, I'm going to try not to think of that.
As much as we all like JJ this is a plus ,we just have to get more talent up front and we can move penner and still have cap space for a rental with carter and johnson's cap hit washing out, not trading bernier would be smart with quickie un-signed as we all know, and DL I am sure did the old due diligence with Nash and as long as he doesn't go to san jose we are good there to, that 7.8 was/is a lot of money
I like Jack, and I would still be surprised if DL trades him..
But..
Even though he's not as bad as he is made out to be, his defensive play is average at best. He brings so much offensively that it makes up for it, but still, if we have to trade a defensman I would rather it be him. Voynov replaces him, even though he's not quite on the same level. He's shown to be very reliable and talented, and more importantly is a ton cheaper. For that reason alone I would rather keep Voynov. JJ is better, but not 3.5M per year better or whatever the difference is. I feel JJ would blossom on another team, like he does when Drew is out. He is best when he's the go to guy as we have seen in the past.
It also leaves us with a great bargaining chip in Bernier who can be moved for another need. I would be willing to give up Johnson and Muzzin/Hickey for Carter, but that's as high as I would go. Including both Bernier and Johnson would have to land us an elite talent to make it worth it.
I don't mind losing JJ as much as some others do, but I'm also one of Voynov's biggest fans. Either way many people have said for years that eventually one of the D men had to get traded, this may be it.
