Carter to LAK? Richards & Carter must be giddy as school girls that they'll be re-united.

Probably won't work because of the cap. We're taking $7.8 and moving $4.2. Need to move Wolski or something. Wolski is $3.8 of useless space.

I'd rather do this (but doubt CBJ does it):

Dubi
Wolski
McIlrath
1st (2012) + 2nd (2013)

I'm not a big advocate for acquiring Nash. If it can be done at the right price, so be it. I'm just weary of that huge contract coming this way and have to admit that I'm seeing shades of Redden/Drury/Gomez on their way back.
I think the cap hit works because of how the cap prorates stuff over the course of the season, blah blah blah

Also, gotta realize Columbus is selling low at this point. Nash is not having a good season, he has a ridiculously high cap hit for what he brings, he's never been an A+ player...Kovalchuk, Hossa, even Richards were all better players than Nash when they were traded

edit: that's not to say that Columbus has to move him for a "mediocre" return, but I believe that's why you hear teams are balking at what Columbus has initially wanted. Howson isn't getting a great return for Nash if he goes through with a trade, no one wants to break the bank for the guy at the moment.

I think that means we can add 6.3MM in salary for a full year, as the cap would be adjusted for roughly 30% of a season, or about $2 in remaining space. If we sign nash, itll be a $2.5MM hit, meaning we'd have to shed a guy worth atleast 2-2.5

Anyone, can someone give me an update I cant scroll through this mess. It's us or the sharks or he's staying is the latest?

The actual percentage today is around 23%. On Monday it will be closer to 21%. But yeah, it's a 6.3m annual contract that we can add today. We'd only be on the hook for that 23% of it. For Nash, it works out to about $1.8m today. We have about $1.5 in space. We would have to shed a contract that's owed $300k for the rest of the season. That's about a $1.3m annual contract.

If LA can complete a Jeff Carter deal, that would basically leave NYR and SJ for Nash...
Not exactly rocket science to figure this out, but better than a hot market.

Have to imagine CLB would prefer Nash in the East...

Looks like the basis for the LA/CLB deal will be Carter for J. Johnson.

Why? If Carter to LA goes down it helps the rangers trade talks and price for Nash

Weird that Erixon wouldn't be included in the deal, since Patrick and other CBJ scouts were scouting the Whale. Better for us. However, they were there for some reason (MZA?? , doubt it). I trust Sather on this deal.
BTW, on TSN 990 Montreal radio, Lebrun said minutes ago (as stated before), that SJ was high on Nash's list, because of his relationship with Thornton, but the asking price included Couture, and the phone dropped pretty hard at that point. He thinks Carter to Kings is almost done, leaving NYR as top/only option for Nash.

Columbus wants that young core for a rebuild. They probably want better than what the NYR are offering but with the cat out of the bag and suitors dropping left and right they are in a poor situation right now.

Lucky enough to be getting JJ for Carter.

Things seem to have accelerated w/Kings-CBJ Carter trade--last 2 losses probably contributed. Could come together tonight. Johnson to go

to CBJs. Probably a first-round pick as well. Had been told CBJ wanted another player. not sure where that stands

We get Richards because Gaborik needs someone to get him the puck. Richards and Gaborik have no chemistry, don't play together, and we are lucky that Gaborik is scoring anyway.

Chemistry is important and often impossible to figure out.

Dubinsky will regain his scoring touch and this team will mature without ripping it apart.

Isn't 40 years of selling the future for a failed chance at this year lesson enough?

The missing piece to a Nash trade.

Lets face it Rick Nash would help the Rangers. I know everyone wants Columbus to give us Nash for a bag of pucks & our spare parts.:shake head

Lets trade Dubi, Sauer, Thomas & a #1. We have Erixxon next season. Sauer was our #3 Dman last season. I know he is hurt but we could give Columbus a cond pick if Sauer can't play next season.

Columbus would get 2 starters & a good prospect & a #1 pick.

We get Nash & keep our top prospects!!!

Flame away! Remember that Sauer would be a #5 or #6 Dman on this team. On Columbus he will be on the 1st pair.
