Sorry man, but loyalty doesn't win Cups. LA has been screwed by players in the past so I could care less that he re-signed with us. If every player that re-signed never got traded we would have a roster of about 10 players

Mixed feelings, but not because of value. Always nervous about players coming to LA and leaving LA. lol

It's absolutely hysterical yet sad that Mark Hardy holds the club record for the worst +/-, as Hardy is the guy who I've always thought JJ seemed the closest too in terms of skill, size, and overall hockey sense.

Yes, Mark Hardy could hit and played with grit and passion.

Yes, Mark Hardy was one of the heroes of the "Miracle on Manchester" game.

Yes, Mark Hardy possessed a powerfully strong slap-shot and was prolific on the PP.

But just remember.....

At the end of the day, Hardy's lack of both hockey sense and defensive prowess led him to be booed not by opposition fans, but by the Forum Faithful. Do you remember the derisive chants?

"Haarrrrr - deeeee ...... Haarrrrr - deeeee ...... Haarrrrr - deeeee ......"

Bob Miller & Nick Nickson even started pointing out the boneheaded plays Hardy would initiate. I remember an instance when Hardy was leading a rush up the ice with a couple of forwards on either side of him. Right before crossing the opposing blue line, he fakes a slap-shot. Naturally, the forwards crossed the line before the puck and the play was whistled off-sides. IIRC, Bob Miller's comment was something to the effect of "If you're going to shoot, shoot. But don't fake the shot and put your teammates off-sides."

Eventually, the booing got so bad that Hardy was traded to the New York Ranger and had to go through therapy to get over being booed by his own fans.

Please Dean Lombardi. Please trade Jack Johnson before his value plummets. Please, please, please trade Jack Johnson before the booing begins!

Thank You, Dean!!!

And for those complaining about what everything we gave up for Carter, Richards and Penner, imagine being a Jackets fan: Voracek, Couturier, Nick Cousins for Jack Johnson and a 1st.

I'm personally not a big Jack Johnson guy, so to me, Carter is worth what's rumored to be heading Columbus way. We could be in the market for a rental D or may swap Brown/Bernier for another forward, so I expect we'd still be active.

Brown/Bernier in tandem would net a really big return, Bernier not a huge return, Brown by himself would be worth a fair bit. Hemsky naturally fits what the Kings like trading for (injury prone guys), so it wouldn't be shocking, but almost everyone here wants Dean to steer clear of him. If we don't have a first, we don't have a second to put with a prospect either, so it would seem like there's nothing that would make sense for both teams with regard to Hemsky.
Well I guess it's done now, hopefully Carter regains his form and gives you guys a 40 goal threat. JJ has always been an enigma to me, super talented athletically but could think the game better. As for Hemsky, who knows, if you guys get him I hope that he stays healthy and helps you guys when it counts ESPECIALLY since your 1st is gone

Not excited about the first, but will not miss jack at all. Kings traded from a strength to address a weakness. Did everyone think that the Kings would hang on to all of the defensemen? Voynov was the #4 when he was in the lineup with jack. Jack was a pp specialist.

The next GM will have a lot to work with.

Jack will be a solid defenseman for Columbus. He always played better without doughty.

During Doughygate we had discussions about agents, and many people praised Jack for negotiating his own dealwithout an agent.

Well I can guarantee you an agent wouldn't have let his client give a hometown discount for a very long term without any kind of NTC. Even a modified NTC that says don't trade me to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Columbus, Long Island, Montreal etc could have saved Jack.

Agents do serve a purpose, Jack learned that the hard way. He now has to spend the prime years of his career in a city I guarantee you he despises.

Someone pointed this out: Carter and Richards for Johnson,Simmonds,Schenn and a 1st. I guess that's one way of looking at it.

We traded from an area of strength to an area of weakness, in theory its a good trade.

But I'm disappointed to see Johnson go, therefore my expectations for Carter are tremendous. If he doesn't perform, I'm expecting a management change.

Johnson couldn't have been protected from this trade with a NTC, as it wouldn't have been allowed to kick in until he turned 27. If your point is that he shouldn't have signed a 7 year deal in the first place until he reached the age of 27 then you're right, but he still likely would have been a part of the deal regardless.

If Brown and Bernier go for Hemsky plus, I will go down to Lombardi's office and kick him square in the nuts.

I am sad to say this, but that's a very good point. I wouldn't have used an agent myself, but if I'm giving discount, I want the NTC.
