No idea, but McKenzie and Dreger both said he was in play.

No. Why would you even want to do that trade?

I don't think I would trade Dubi for Brown. Only because Dubi's younger.

I'm no expert on the CBA/capspace and the business side of the NHL, but if there's one thing I've learned it's that Paul Holmgren can move salaries and players fairly efficiently and exceedingly often.

I wonder what LA would want for Brown?
Brown would be exponentially easier to fit, although he usually plays the right side. Wonder if we could get him without giving up Dubinsky (ie: 1st + prospect). He did have 28 goals last year, and plays a style very similar to Callahan.

Anisimov - Stepan - Gaborik
Brown/Callahan - Richards - Callahan/Brown
Dubinsky - Boyle - Hagelin
Rupp - Mitchell/Center pickup - Fedotenko/Prust

Doesn't have Rick Nash's offensive flair, but is actually a significantly more physical player than Nash. I'd sure as hell rather pursue Brown than Hemsky.

Brown has 15 goals on the year versus Nash's 20 so far.

EDIT: Completely forgot Hagelin.

The Rangers gets considerably worse with this trade. I may not be a big fan of Gaborik, but you move him and you have a team full of grinders.

It seems to be a lot of "Hurry up and wait" at this point. I just want something to get done soon so I can stop hitting F5 on my keyboard every 30-45 seconds.

That Dreger tweet had Philly interested in Brown, I think, not Nash:

Dennis Bernstein ‏ @DennisTFP Close
Early precincts reporting - TOR BUF PHI NYR interest in Dustin Brown.

Nash over Brown every day of the week. We need gamebreaking skill, not another 2nd line grinder.

I concur.

Is it me or is every moderator on board with a trade for Nash?

That gamebreaking skill guy has one of the worst contracts in the league and that 2nd line grinder has one of the best.

I looked at his stats not that much better than Dubi's.
