I see your point, but we already have a Brown in Callahan. We don't have a Nash. Hell, can't remember the last time we did have a player like him.

What I dont understand is if we are going to dumb things down, and I mean really dumb things down, to just looking at goals and points totals in order to measure players value, why aren't we at least doing goals/cap dollars and points/cap dollars?

I mean in what real world scenario do you just go get the best, most expensive thing that you can afford? Price is always the number one determinant of making a purchase.

Wow...checked out for a few hours and checked back in to see Dustin Brown in play. That's a guy I want. He has a reasonable contract and is a clone of Callahan. Only difference? He's bigger. 27 goal average over the last 4 years. If there's a way to get him without disrupting the core, I'm definitely in.

I agree. IF he is indeed available he makes a ton more sense than Nash. Two more years at only 3.1M per? That's a steal.

why would LAK do that? by trading for Carter clearly they want to win now. losing their captain helps them how?

youll have to include more for him. AA, top prospects, etc.

This team is lacking offense, getting rid of our best forward will not help.
thats why we should sell him now, hes high, get brown and some change for um and let the dynasty begin

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. Callahan doesn't have the offensive skills Gabby has. The next highest scorer is Richards and he's been nowhere for quite some time. If you don't have Gabby, we certainly ain't first in the East.

I'm coming up short here, when we play the Kings one of our guys usually clashes with Dustin Brown quite often. Is it Marc Staal?

So who is suggesting Brown is actually in play? LA is trying to win now, and Brown is dirt cheap. Something does seem odd about that.

The Blues are another team near first that needs a game breaker. Without one they're not sniffing the cup. You can have a good regular season record when playing the southeast division 20 games or in the case of St. Louis, the Northwest sans Vancouver 16 games, and get by on just defense and goaltending. When you get into the playoffs and everyone plays good defense and gets good goaltending you're screwed.

Why would LA do this? Anisimov would be their 4th best center and McIlrath will have a hard time making that defense.

I'm gonna guess that LA is looking for a skilled top 6 forward or a PPQB/PMD defenseman for Brown.

All things considered, if I had the choice, I'd go for Brown over Nash every day and twice Sunday. Talk about a guy that fits the team identity well. He costs less than half than Nash capwise, and the Rangers wouldn't have to break the bank assets wise if he really is in play.

He may not be signed? When his contract ends, the Rangers will say,
"Good-bye and good luck."

I thought Nash was a LW? could be wrong. I was under the impression that he was a LW who could play RW if need be. I get most of my position info from EHM2007 though.

Are you saying Brown > Schenn, Simmonds, and a 1st???

Im not a Schenn guy, but he was a somewhat consensus top prospect in the whole league prior to the season. I think a lot of us saw Simmonds as the player that Philly has fallen in love with. We'd love him on the Rangers.

Anisimov would have to be in the deal for Brown.

Why would they take a lesser player on Dubinsky at a higher cap hit than Brown?

Anisimov is cheap, younger, and has more potential.

My opinion, Rangers reported interest in Brown = lighting a match under Howson.
