Multiple goal deficits

First of all, the good news. The Rangers have been down by more than 1 goal by my count only 13 times this year (I don't count the empty net against the Islanders). Second, the bad news. We won only 1 game (the winter classic) in the scenario. Most of the time we don't even make it close, with our 2nd 4-2 loss to Toronto and I guess the Chicago games being the only exceptions. Last year we seemed to do it relatively often (in more attempts though). By my count Philly has at least 3 and 2 of them are 3 goal deficits. They almost came back from a 4 goal deficit against Winnipeg, even made it very interesting against New Jersey when they were down 6-0 in the 3rd, losing 6-4. This team has 4 wins when trailing after 2, but fall behind by more than 1 and stick a fork in them. I don't know if it's the offense or what, but this to me is disconcerting.

Weren't we down two vs Carolina at home earlier this year?

No, we weren't down at all against Carolina at home (we won 5-1) and in Carolina we were down 1-0 and 2-1 I believe.

Wait our chances to win when down 2 or more goals (considering that 3 is the magic number to win most games for every team in the league) is significantly low? Color me shocked.

Seriously, this is a stupid argument. Of course when the team is down 66% of what's needed to win an average hockey game, they'll lose most of the times. You'll find the same stats for every team in the league.

How many teams come back from 2 goal deficits?

The Rangers are not a high scoring team. They are defense-first orientated. They are built to play with the lead. Look at their record when scoring 1st and when having a 1 goal lead after 2. It's their system and it's the way they play.

Obviously getting down by 2 goals gets them off their game and out of their comfort zone. Teams can sit back and force the Rangers into mistakes.

This is not rocket science.

I'm not worried though. It's not often we get down by 2.

It would be nice to have half the come back ability of the Flyers. Hell it would be nice to have the come back ability of last year's Rangers team. This team is better than those teams, but it would be nice if it weren't lights out every time we go down 2-0.

Oh and 3 goals is not that many goals. We score just a quarter goal below that. Considering we have been shutout a ******** of times, we've scored 3 or more a bunch of times.

And I'm sure they would love to have our problem.

It would be nice if we can win a game when scoring 4 goals.

I'd rather our problem then theirs.

I knew someone posted this and I agree. But can't I be greedy and want both?

Well, it would be nice

But I think our team looks fine as it is. With Nash or without. I'm happy with what we've done because I can say that very few people predicted the Rangers to be where they are right now.

It would, but I'm happier having the team that doesn't HAVE to come back a dozen times to make the playoffs.

Sure, we don't have many epic comebacks. But we have quite a few solid 1 and 2 goal wins

Yesterday the Rangers got their 3rd point all season after falling behind by multiple goals. Good job. Shouldn't be down 2 goals to friggin Islanders though.
