Richards doesn't play with Gabs. It's Anisimov-Stepan-Gaborik

Richards and Gaborik have been on separate lines for most of the season. They just don't have chemistry. Gaborik plays with Stepan and a revolving door, and Richards plays with Callahan and a revolving door (usually Hagelin though).

Whitney on the other hand belongs nowhere near the team, in case his performance at Vancouver 2010 wasn't enough of an indicator of that.
Take your word for it. I wasn't completely sure on Whitney anyway.

lol at the Kings taking on that nine year deal. Its gonna be like the blackhawks all over again. Gonna have to nickle and dime players to get them to play in LA. Bye Bye Brown.

They took on about $800k in cap space with the trade...

Not to mention Penner's $4.25mil comes off the books at the end of the year and I highly doubt they pay half that much for his replacement.

Also just to stick the nail in the coffin of the Jack Johnson "debate" that I guess I was pretty much just having with myself, I totally forgot about this excellent post from BoC about Johnson's performance last season:

Dude is terrible at hockey.
Yah, he gives up far more goals against than he creates for. He is addition by subtraction. LA just got better, but at the same time they are so poorly coached it's going to be too little, too late.

DW is going to do something, not much doubt there. If it's not Nash, it'll be something, he's clearly after a major player.

Can you elaborate on the "clearly" part?

It's DW, is there any doubt? Just fits the profile I suppose.

I fully expect Nash at DW's price now, and I hate myself for it because I'm going to be let down.

My guess is:

Clowe+Demers+B Prospect (all of ours are B tops I think)+1st

CBJ uses the 2 1sts+ to move back up in the top 5, possibly ending up with Yakupov and Murray? It could be far worse.

EDIT: If they insist on a dump, they can take Greiss (we add another pick depending) in lieu of the prospect while we take Mason. Greiss will never play in the POs anyway... Buy out Mason after the season, who is relatively cheap to buyout.

I don't think there is much doubt he's actually inquiring about Nash at this point. We've also heard he looked at Carter, Hemsky, Whitney, JVR...

Where there is smoke there is fire. Unless he gets absolutely stone-walled at every turn, he's going to acquire someone.

Well, with the assets he has to work with, I'd imagine that this is frequently the case.

Most of those rumors are bs. He might've asked for Nash/Carter but I don't think he is actively pursuing either.

On a side note:

If Washington is indeed putting Hamrlik on the block, does that mean Semin is on there too? I'd rather rent Semin than commit to Nash. Less assets required etc... Semin is also one of the few Washington Caps who don't **** the bed come postseason.

Lol @ Jeff Carter being the Kings savior.

As PF said, Darryl Sutter is where creative offensive hockey and goal scoring go to die. Coaching is the Kings problem.

Jeff Carter won't make a damn difference.

The contretemps with the coach has Hamrlik on the move. Doesn't mean they are in sell mode . . . yet.

I'm convinced DW is certainly after Nash now with reliable sources like Dreger and LeBrun even mentioning it.

I like Nash a lot but his cap hit makes him a lot less attractive.

Trading Pavelski for him would be a stupid move considering the value each player brings for their respective salary.

If Tortorella can turn Richards into a 55 point guy, just think what he can do with Nash!

Here's a nutty idea. How about Michael Ryder (if he comes cheap)? I don't know if he'd fit in well but he's having a decent season and signed through next season at a decent cap hit.

In his first two years at least... should be fun!

Richards was spending time on the 4th line about a week ago. good times.
