Is the Big Rig back?

If it were possible to dump all over Chris Phillips more, i have not yet found a way.
I may have to begin to prepare to eat my words.

Last night was Playoff Chris Phillips.
I have not seen that Chris Phillips for 3 years.

He dominated every puck battle, beat down every Washington forward like he was back in junior crushing 16 year olds, made quick safe outlet passes, joined the rush, pinched effectively all night.

That was his best game in 3 years.
It was amazing to watch IMO.

Is it possible? Could he find that game again?? Could he maintain that throughout a playoff run??
Could this be a Big Rig renaissance?????
I never would have believed it possible until lasts nights game.

I think he's played much better since getting the 1000-game recognition. It's mental -- new confidence and enthusiasm. He's feeling more involved, instead of feeling like a 3rd-pairing plug who'd best try to just not **** up.

He's had stretches during he last few seasons of really good play, but he also is prone to stretches of terrible-ness. I don't think he'll sustain this level of play that long, especially the point production.

Edit: I should add that don't think Phillips can carry a pairing at this point, but if he's got a solid partner opposite him he won't drag the pairing down as long as he's sheltered from really good players. I think his days as a shutdown D-man to play against top competition are over.

It's funny, because Phillips used to be a notoriously slow starter.

We used to wait until "playoff Phillips" would emerge and it was usually very late in the season.

Then one season, he started playing like that all year long.

Dont care about the points really, what was startling to me was his energy, aggression and defence.

Seriously, keep him on the powerplay! Oddly enough, he has more Powerplay goals then Karlsson

4 goals in his last 6 games.

As awesome as he's been the last handful of games, it's probably too early to say he's back to his "big rig" form for good.

I think a lot has to with the whole team in general playing much better. Andy has been in god mode lately.

Like most have said, his last few games since #1,000 he's really put his foot down... A handful of goals, the guys on fire... Nice to see him like this, shuts the haters up for a while...

He definitely has an extra jump this yr and now is gaining more confidence I think. He looked about 10 pounds lighter before the season started. He must have really been working hard. It's paying off now, cause I agree he is looking like the old big rig. Just like alfie is looking the old (young) alfie again.

big rig is back! And he is hungry

I think somebody showed him his pre-draft highlight reel.
