That's 5th overall in the NHL in average-goals-per-season over that stretch.

Higher goals per season average even than Sidney Crosby over that 4-year stretch. (Yes, you read that right.)

I like Stoll more than many, but please, let's get serious here.
I think he was being sarcastic Willard.

I have seen Nex blasting Stoll for the last 2 years along with Kurri.

I could be wrong though.. not sure.

It does, though, scare me, that for better or for worse, this is essentially the core of the team for the next 5+ years, so we have just hope and pray that Carter is part of the answer instead of further questions. But I'm going to give it a few games before I feel one way or the other, because like everyone else, I'm very conflicted on this team and its direction.

Trades happen in pro sports. It sucks, especially when you lose loyal, fan-favorite personalities. But we move on.
My little diatribe didn't judge the trade specifically because, like tomd said, Lombardi didn't have much of a choice - he had to make a move. We'll have to wait and see how things mesh.

I'm just concerned that the Kings as they are currently constituted just aren't that good - and they are almost out of options. They have traded away huge chunks of their high ranking prospects, young players, and high draft choices to win now AND they don't have any cap space left. Like Richards, Carter isn't the final piece of the puzzle - far from it, and now it looks like this could be a repeat of years ago when the Kings had a big time gap in their pipeline.

After listening to all of the hype over all those years, is this really the team that you envisioned?

My analysis of the deal, and other tidbits, including strong possibility that Penner might be placed on waivers...

Should have waived Penner 3 weeks ago.

Actually, you're wrong. It's that the Kings bottom 6 isn't that good. By replacing Simmonds and Handzus with Richardson and Lewis, Dean screwed up big time. Also, placing Stoll on the wing was no road map. Happily, fixing the bottom 6 shouldn't be nearly the nightmare of fixing the top 6. IMHO, the top 6 is all but fixed .....for now!

Honestly, I always thought Johnson was one of the worst passers on the team. He's a great puck SKATER, but his outlet pass wasn't very good... He often put too much heat on it, even having it be a couple of inches above the ice at times.

Anyway, young puckmovers with his upside are definitely a rare commodity so I understand Button's concern but it seems like the Kings can't do anything right when it comes to his analysis.

So at this point can we call this team the "Philadelphia Flyers of Los Angeles?" Also if Gagne returns next year (heck even if he doesn't at this point) avatars should be something to do with the old "Avengers West Coast" comic series changed to be "Flyers West Coast"

Uh... Ohio has the 7th highest population and 10th highest population density. The cow town fallacy really needs to be put to rest.

What is Ohio's unicorn population density number?

i may have missed it, but what exactly are the negative nancy's (tomd and psp) position on this trade? let me guess, they have no position. because they are waiting for the first dip in the road before they can be "proven right".

ya, and psp, what high ranking prospects? teubert and schenn? without going through the list, i think only schenn is the one we're going to miss. and like someone else said, what cap space? you mean the $7+ mil coming off from penner and Stoll next year alone? that lack of cap space?

I'm thinking it might be somewhat a case of sour grapes since this basically means there will be no Parise signs in LA rumors... I mean that not as a rip on anyone here but as I think it might be a veiwpoint of some.

how are we out on Parise because of Carter? We gave up JJ for Carter (salary swap), so we still have cap for him. I think we're out on Parise only because NJ is not going to let him go.

our D is fine. The system more than makes up for the loss. Voynov was one of my favorite defenders while up here and I'm 100% for getting Hickey some IR playing time.
