Exactly. However leaf fans are starving for some change, we desperately want to make the playoffs without hurting the future of this team. So everything now is under the microscope. If we were still sitting 4-8 points up on 9th there would be more of a reluctancy to see a trade in leaf land.

Fans are desperate. Burke is desparate. Expect the giant to wake the **** up over the next 3 days. (leaf nation giant)

Some speculate it's because of cap issue. Others say LA wants to make Richards captain so they are shipping him out.

This is a joke. The Kings need elite wingers not young defensmen.

I dont get the logic. does he have a massive ego or something? Or is Lombardi making up excuses? Can't give up the C? I mean how many times has a player been asked to step down from captain. It happens.

It's got nothing to do with the cap, and everything to do with the bidding war Already going on.

It's a Sellers Market, they don't have to move Brown. If A team overpay's for him and it makes the Kings better, why not ?

The Kings also need speed, Brown is not the fastest or best skater. I am sure the Kings are looking for top six Forward that fits that.

I guess since Leafs goaltending wasn't a trainwreck for 1 night they aren't looking at goalies anymore?

Targeting a bunch of RWers still...

The Kings don't have to have a defenseman back. Slava Voynov called up for JMFJ and is perfectly capable.

Kings need goals. Lots of 'em.

It doesn't sit well with the rest of the team so your captain getting stripped for a guy who hasn't been on the team for 12 months.

I have no idea why LA wants to trade him. Some other reporters speculate it's because they want to sign Quick so they need to ship out to make room for Quick's salary.

With what cap space are you going to land an elite winger?

Elite wingers tend to cost $5+M.

I see the Kings moving Brown and Penner to bring in effective secondary scoring and an asset for the future.

They're promoting Voynov and would be smart to fill his spot in the system.

Dreger also mentioned the Leafs will be keeping tabs on Nabokov in New York.

Quit trolling.

Not really the Kings have about 7 mill leaving the Team next season. Dustin Brown's cap hit is 3.5 Mill

Hopefully the Kings are that shortsighted and trade Brown to the Leafs but I'm not holding my breath.

They need to replace Jack Johnson and Brown is expendable with the acquisition of Carter. Not like they are looking for draft picks. They still want players that will help now.

Doesn't specify that to be the case on Cap Geek and there usually pretty good with that sort of thing.

Yep... though I don't think Capgeek has the BEST info on NTCs and NMCs.

I don't see Burke moving Frattin or Kadri.

Schenn and MacArthur is steep for Brown.

But Brown is my top 5 favourite hockey players, and I would by a jersey the second he's traded to TO if it happens.

Go take a look at the Kings defensive roster: As things stand now, they're going to ask Willie Mitchell to play 22-24 minutes a night as a #2 AND hold up, they're going to have to rely on Martinez, they're going to have to hope that there's no hiccup with a Voynov recall, and they've got no safety net if anything goes wrong with that. There's a reason Lombardi wants a young defenseman, and IMO he's smart to want that as part of a package.

Quick is at least going to ask for 5mil+. You are left with less than 2 mil to create a contender.

Anyone else notice Dreger is pretty much a Leaf employee at this point. Burke on speed dial.

I'm guessing that LA would rather deal Bernier for that winger and send Penner to Manchester AND move Brown in a cap neutral deal than add 3.475M in cap space in the deal you suggest and have no option but to hold Bernier or move him for futures.

The last two years Schenn has been top 2 in hits amongst NHL defensemen.

Same applies to Dustin Brown.

Both are 300+ hit players. In a league where maybe 2 or 3 guys hit 300 a year.

Scoring?

MacArthur + Franson

We'll even take Penner back. M. Lombardi? LA wants speed right? One of the fastest players in the league...
