Sounds like a broken leg or torn ACL--not a head, arm or shoulder.

Getting taken on a stretcher is bad, bad in any case.

Slava Malamud ‏ @SlavaMalamud
Latest word from Chelyabinsk is Kuznetsov may have torn knee ligaments. #Caps

Slava Malamud ‏ @SlavaMalamud
Traktor's head coach says Kuznetsov may be lost for the rest of the season. Obviously, speculation at this point, before MRIs are done #Caps

Broken leg would be the best case scenario IMO.

Sounds like he blew his knee. Will be interesting to see if GMGM makes a play to have him get this surgery in the US. I don't know how much I trust the teams over there to set players up with the right doctors. Especially if they think the kid is bolting.

It's pretty common there now for top athletes to get major surgery in Germany.. not too worried about that.

I'm pretty sure he had his shoulder surgery in Germany, so that would make sense.

Two words, kid: Guaranteed Contracts

The scare might just push him over the edge to go the NHL route. Scary times, looking ahead into your future and seeing the tangible risk for the first time.

Considering how Malkin has looked this year, why is it unreasonable to hope that Kuznetsov could be ready in time for training camp?

Sad that this was my first thought as well.

Should have added "get well"... But I'm a selfish sob and I only care about hockey

It's not a death blow. If anything, it might make Russians pass and the Caps a more enticing offer.

Though, he could be concerned he might end up in Hershey.

If its an ACL the timetable would be right around the 6 month mark and he could conceivably be ready by next year.

Kind of scary to hear the injuries he's had though. In one interview he said he dislocated his shoulder numerous times before having surgery and now a serious knee injury.

I have to admit it. Me too. I think it's because I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. That was more or less what I thought would end up happening... a big old lump of coal on the Kuznetsov front before the season ended for Caps fans. It's fitting, somehow.

Watched the video. That is not a happy hockey player.

My consolation prize perhaps. I'll get to see him in person. But frankly I hope it doesn't happen and he still goes right to Washington.

Strange hit. His skate get stuck in the ice?

SlavaMalamud: Kuznetsov's agent tells Sport-Express the diagnosis is a severe bruise of soft tissues. May miss 3 weeks. #Caps
