I really hope he just resigns with the Isles, would be awesome
He has a NMC so he decides where he wants to be moved to.

Definitely not the worst in the league (not even close) but we're currently in a playoff race.

Do the research.

No market for Nabokov, regardless of how awesome he is.
If thats the case, we'll just resign him then

We don't have any cap dumps, and Komisarek is of no interest.

If we dumped any cap we'd be under the cap minimum unfortunately

Gustavsson and Holzer/Aulie for Nabakov is as high as we should pay.

From what I've seen something could be worked out around one of the second two... but I dont think the Isles have any interest in Gustavsson... too many goalie prospects to begin with, we had to ship one to Sweden cuz there was no room in the AHL

Says who? Negotiations are going on as I type this... even if he doesnt sign prior to Monday theres still a ton of time to get something done before FA. If we're gonna get lowballed, Id rather just keep him and either sign him or trade his rights if a team is willing

Good luck signing him and best of luck investing $8.5M in goaltending on a nightly basis.

Gustavsson would be in the deal because we would have no room for him with Nabakov on the team.

He's signed cheap and a pending UFA so it's nothing for the Isles to carry him for the rest of the year.

If the Leafs worked out some sort of Komisarek + pick for Nabakov I would be two stepping all over Burlington.

What's the Islanders' budget?

Will Nabokov sign on with a budget team at 36 years of age?

Not sure if the deal will get done but he is obviously interested in staying if they are talking extension.

Why would Snow give up a 3rd to move Nabokov?

Keith Aulie and a conditional 3rd (2013) for Nabokov.

If he signs with Toronto this summer, Isles get Aulie + 3rd.

If he walks, Isles get Aulie + 4th.

Aulie is expendable in Toronto and fits in New York.

That's why.

Most players have negotiations with clubs leading up to the end of their contract year.

But I don't think the situation in New York is the most attractive.

In 3-5 years, sure... but not for a 36 year old goalie.

Do you disagree?

I have a feeling that Nabby will eventually resign with the Isles, but if they fail to agree on a dealI think the Isles will be looking for a d-man prospect that's NHL ready. So what can TOR realistically offer?

I think we can assume Toronto won't part with a roster player in their situation, and Komisakrek is of no interest whatsoever to Isles and is basically a cap dump now.
