Kings have a lot of very skilled centers in Richards, Carter, and kopitar. Wonder if they would want to deal one?

They need defense now especially with Johnson gone and they just reunited Carter and Richards. Wonder if suter + for kopitar would work??

Carter is to play wing so I doubt they are interested

Per TFP we are interested in Hemsky, Ruutu, JVR, Ribeiro, AK, and RMalone.
Not interested in BRyan, DBrown, Nash, Carter, Roy, Statsny or any other name player. Of course we were not interested in Hal Gill either.

Hope it is ok to list other Hockey site...

I think the folks w/ the Calgary Flames agreed!! From their twitter feed (but sadly has been deleted):

It loos silly for sure but you look at comparables and it makes a lot more sense. Unrestricted guys just get overpaid period.

Makes me wonder how much Suter could get if he offered his services to the highest bidder.

You're probably going to find out soon enough.

Hemsky's average for 3 years (one year can be an aberration, 3 years - that's the player you are) is 46 games played, 9 goals and 24 assists.

For 5 million dollars. Insanity.

You are crazy if you think Poile is going to land a top 30 forward at the deadline.

Willie Mitchell re-signs with Kings.

I was hoping (unrealistically) to get that guy as our #3 this summer and upgrade KK! He is the perfect vet dman for a second pair.

Have we attempted to re-sign Tootoo? Or is Poile waiting until he's in the same igloo as his agent to negotiate?

Late to the party, but can't get on here at work. On Dustin Brown...

The guy is outstanding in a 2nd/3rd line tweener grinding role. He'll take the body, and he can be extremely dangerous if he goes hard to the net and creates traffic and knocks home rebounds.

The problem is, he's had it drilled into his head that he is a 1st line scoring winger, and his game mostly consists of attempting dekes that lead to turnovers, and taking way too many easy wrist shots, most of which are straight into the goalie's chest. His inability to slam home wide open back side goals also makes Legwand look like a master of the craft. He does make some big hits also, but he very often goes way out of his way to do so.

That said, the guy has long been one of my favorite Kings, is a great character guy, and he will put up numbers, but I just don't believe he's as effective a player as he could be if put in the proper role. That is perhaps something Trotz could do.

Following both of these teams closely though, I need to say, you absolutely do NOT give up Colin Wilson for him. Wilson already has better talent, and has a better hockey IQ than Brown. I also don't think you give up Horny in exchange, as Brown does not fill the front-of-the-net role all that well currently. If you can do it for something like Blum+pick+something, than you definitely do it.

I said it before and i'll say it again, I want Mike Ribeiro. I think he's available and in our price range. I hope we go for him but i'm not holding my breath...

Agreed.

Also, Poile didn't just trade smithson away and lose potential playoff depth to not make a move by deadline.

Ribeiro would be great, not sure he's actually available though. Never know. Roy would be good too.

I think this team is missing a top 6 center. Legwand needs to be bumped to 3rd line duties. Spaling replaces Smithson's duties on the 4th line.

You don't completely remove someone from your organization to accommodate someone coming off injured reserve. Mueller could have easily been sent back to Milwaukee and Smithson scratched to make room for Hornqvist's return, and McGrattan was not going to suit up much for the rest of the season, anyway. Mueller can still be sent down without clearing waivers (to my knowledge, at least). This has to be a setup move.

It's official - Hemsky has re-signed with Edmonton.

Relieved and disappointed at the same time. He would have been a great addition, but he is a huge gamble.

It also seems significant the poile chose to move a center. he could have just as easily traded or waived Yip if he just needed any old roster spot...

makes me wonder if we haven't made a bid for Ribiero...

Dallas is in 8th, I'm not sure what incentive there is to move Ribiero when they're clearly in the hunt.

well, if they are thinking longer term, and looking at a rebuild whether they make it this year or not, they could get a lot for him...

they aren't exactly on an uptick in terms of the whole trajectory of the franchise, so squeaking in at 8 may not be a huge priority for them

I'm hoping SLake doesn't mind me sharing this, but apparently Dallas had a scout at the game last night

Glad Hemsky is not in the picture. We do not need another playmaker but lets all spell it out together we need a ......S.N.I.P.E.R.!

Probably not. I'm not sure he'd even be available. We're probably looking at Roy or Grabovski, if we're going for a center. I could definitely see us adding Roy, especially now that he's starting to build some momentum on the ice.
