That is what it will take, not necessarily the 1st rounders included. Green may fall short in the playoffs, soft, and often injured, but he is a proven offensive defenseman with a RFA contract. If you want him you are going to pay for him, especially being an Eastern conference team.

I will be really bummed if George is selling on this deadline. Not that I think he is. But if he does, I am bummed because he will still be the guy restocking the team. And I don't want that. I wouldn't mind him trying to hit a home run, and get one last chance to get us a cup. Ted lets him do some selling and then buying with the assets he attained, not mortgaging any future.

So, if the Rangers get Dustin Brown, that makes the decision to sell pretty easy, right? We couldn't compete with that over the next 2+ years as currently constructed.

Because the team as currently constructed competes so well with anyone as is?

If they are making moves based on what the Rangers do I wouldn't know what to say...

A couple years ago the Caps were a juggernaut and nobody was cashing in their chips with the idea that they weren't going to be able to compete with that anytime soon.

The Rangers are having a nice season without a doubt but as we clearly know that can come to an end awfully quickly.

Yeah, but where we had Tomas Fleischmann, they'll have Dustin Brown..and where we had Joe Corvo, they'll have...not Joe Corvo.

Speaking of Corvo, how the hell did he get so lucky to be picked up by Boston, and conversely, what were the Bruins thinking there?

Yeah it did seem to good to be true (re Brown)

The TSN guys really aren't that credible sometimes, I feel that for how much they've been advertising the deadline and the way it's looking to be maybe they've gotten some pressure from higher ups to throw some stuff out there.

Honestly Kypreous isn't that far behind them these days.

Dregers been the Leafs puppet for awhile now

McKenzie is still the only guy worth following and believing. He's rarely wrong on this stuff, and always credible. He doesn't care about being first, and doesn't jump the gun.

Also, all GMs lie, but Dean Lombardi is a lying liar among liars, so I'm not necessarily convinced he isn't yanking the chain of some teams a little bit. He might be kind of, sort of not available, depending on the price. Could be a message to teams to up the offers.

That is how I see it. When I see stuff by other media, I just look at is as entertainment or discussion stuff.

Hawks have two defensemen down. They were interested in Schultz iirc.

Wonder if they're desperate enough to make a "hockey trade" for Sharp.

If Bowman's grown senile, maybe.

I didn't mean for Schultz, although rereading that's definitely how it sounded.

I was thinking more along the lines of a package including 2 NHL defensemen and futures for Sharp. Of course I doubt Sharp's available at all, but the need is there for Chicago and even bigger than it was before, especially with one of the two defensemen who went down being Hjalmarsson.

Chicago's got the top 6 talent to make such a deal palatable. I wonder how many teams have two NHL defensemen they could give up.

Caps have four, if you count Wideman, Schultz, Erskine and Hammer. BTW, saw a tweet that the Rags are interested in Wides.

(define "NHL defensemen", LOL)

Mitchell re-signs with LA. Come on Suter. You know you want to play in DC.
