I love your cap management. It's like Glen Sather, only much worse.

Maybe FW should adopt the Lombardi model of cap management. Aka spend to the cap and have one of the worst offenses in NHL history to show for it.

Can't pay Nash and Quick 15 mill but can happily pay Smyth, Penner and Stoll almost the same amount.

Not defending DL's cap management at all this season. We certainly didn't get the bang for the buck. Doesn't mean some of these posters, such as FW, are doing any better. In fact, they are worse.

Lisa Dillman was told by a source wth the Kings that Bernier will not be dealt.

DL keeping his options open with Quick. Might go hard after Parise and won't be able to afford Quick. We'll see.

goalies like Quick are worth every penny. he's going to get whatever amount he wants, whether its in LA or somewhere else. DL would do well to sign him to an extension asap

So wrong.

I've tried to explain some time ago, why Doughty shouldn't have received 7M but no success. Some people don't understand what market value means. Goalie market value. 5.75M would be maximum for me.

Quick and Doughty salaries:

Quick deserves $6.5M/yr while Doughty should never have gotten $7M/yr, he was mediocre last year, has been disappointment most of this year, he should have been offered $5M/yr, take it or leave it, and then he would have prob left and we would have Voynov as our replacement,

sure hope we don't trade Bernier before we get Quick signed, otherwise, he will have a lot of leverage over us...

Before this season Rinne/Quick numbers were as follows

Rinne GP 177 95-53-18 20 SO career 2.34 GAA .921 SV %
Quick GP 180 96-66-12 14 SO career 2.33 GAA .916 SV%

I would say Quick signs a 6 yr deal at a $6.5-7M cap hit.

I disagree -Quick anyways, DOughty I'm still undecided on.

At $5.75 million, no one is going to trade a productive goalie because he's earning that money. If he's unproductive (see Huet), you don't want him. And if you offer Quick $5.75 million in light of what Rinne got and what other goalies have recieved (Miller, Ward, etc.) he'll just test the waters.

If you want to keep Quick, he'll likely go for $6.3 -$6.5 million, maybe more. Considering his value to the team, that's still quite reasonable.

I think I'd pass if that price goes too high. Look at half of the posts in this thread: blank check, anything he wants etc. People are crazy.

What was the value of Luongo when he was best? I hope we all remember that Luongo was THE best goalie in the league at one point in the past. Quick in my opinion is not the best goalie in the league. And if you look at best goalies in the recent years, you will see that most of them played behind great defensive systems.

Goalies are extremely important, but in my opinion they are given too much credit. Too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses. Bryzgalov playing for Rangers wouldn't have half as many problems as he has in Philadelphia. It's so funny to see how "surprises" appear in teams with great defensive system and later their numbers fall down when the defense is not that good anymore.

Brian Elliot. 1.65 GAA. .937 SV%. Signed an extension, 2 years @ 1.8M. Let's take a look at that number objectively. Blues fans are extremely happy, but don't let that cloud our judgement. I do expect Quick to give discount (and demand NTC) and 6.5M is not discount.

I realize such thinking is extremely unpopular among fans, but that is how I feel. Oh BTW, you think it's terrible when offense is slumping? Wait when 7M goalie starts slumping...

if he stays $6-7M. the guy has earned it, hell he deserves DD's contract more than Drew does. DD should take lessons from Quick on being a team player and not a distraction.

my biggest concern is him staying. wouldn't be surprised if he lands in CHI, NJ, NYR, BOS, PHI. he likes Chicago and then there is the east coast thing. it's going to be tough to counter the "call from home". most people wonder why people live in EDM because of the weather. didn't stop old man Smyther's from wanting to 'go home'
