Wonder what Hall and Eberle's RFA deals will look like.

Seems about right. They have to overpay 1-2M to get players to stay on that team.

An oft-injured, 5 goal scorer? Not trying to troll here, but I wouldn't even sign Hemsky at all if he were available.

I guess. The only difference I would say is that Hemsky is a UFA and the kids will be RFA's coming off their ELC's. No doubt they'll want and deserve big raises.

I still think they should deal Hemsky. Especially given the market.

Look at dan hamhuis for example, the guy is making 4.5m a year, and yes he was a UFA
You know different players have different values to different teams, right?

It's funny to see people get upset at this. It would be a standard re-signing like every other one out there. Why get up in arms about it?

5 goal scorer? That's like saying Ovechkin is a 25 goal scorer? It's ONE bad season. He had 42 points in 47 games last year. He just had major Shoulder surgery. Give him a break. Sure, he's not playing like a 5-mil guy, but the Oilers love him and are willing to take a chance. In 47 game, 26 points is beyond terrible either.

I doubt Hemsky would even take a 2-year term. He would rather want a 5 year 20 mill contract. I'm sure some crazy GM will give it to him.

so...Hemsky is 5 goal scorer? I guess you wouldn't sign Crosby, being he's only a 12 point player huh. nice logic.

Why are people looking at Hemsky's goal totals? He's a playmaker.

It's the old gambit of paying more for a shorter term or less for long term. In the NHL these days it is not huge sin in overpaying a guy for a short term deal if you make a mistake. A long term deal is a whole other matter.

Of course i wouldn't put it past the Oilers to make an offer they know is going to be rejected to cover their ***** with the fans.

It's a risk teams take to sign players with the skill level Hemsky has. You're kidding yourself if think Hemsky wouldn't get close to $5M on the open market. Look at what other players in the league have gotten.

I have no idea what the bolded part is trying to say.
Hemsky is not gaborik, Hemsky will never be Gaborik, They are not compatible because the skill level is not remotely the same.

I am done debating this, Enjoy Hemsky, I give it 2 months into next year, before the oilers management will regret this deal.

Gaborik will never be Hemsky either. Wasn't it Jagr that said Hemsky was the best playmaker he had the opportunity to play with???

Sorry, when you keep repeating this "5 goal scorer" thing, you are trying to troll here.

The rumoured deal is two years.

I was talking about injury history, not skill level. And Hemsky isn't getting a contract close to what Gaborik got.

Sounds good, but you have to promise to stop whining about it by then.

Don't worry, bud. We'll re-sign them just like Pittsburgh, Chicago, etc... have.

I don't mind this at all. Hemsky and Hall have been looking really good together lately. I'd like to keep that going so RNH can pair back up with Eberle.
It's funny how concerned Vancouver fans are about the 29th place team in the league.
