Wideman would be a heck of a pickup as a rental. Not sure I see the caps selling though.

Wideman would be an upgrade over Eminger, Bickel, or Stralman, and he has the capability to log more minutes than them. Bickel is averaging 8 minutes per game and Eminger is averaging 13 minutes a game. That puts far too much pressure on the other defensemen.

Yes, Wideman has a tendency to make a bad turnover every now and then, but if he's playing on the 3rd D pairing he won't be facing the top lines in the league on a regular basis.

I think Stralman is better defensively

substitute a few names and such, and i think we have the argument people had when we picked up Christian Backman from the Blues. good God was he bad. or Kotalik and all his turnovers, ESPECIALLY manning the point on the PP. that all i remember from him. these posts all sound too familiar....

No, it actually isn't the same argument at all. Wideman is far superior to Backman offensively. If people were expecting Backman to be the savior on the PP, they were sorely mistaken. He never scored more than 20 points in a season. Wideman is a 40+ point defenseman.

Wideman almost has as many points on the PP this season as Backaman had in his career. Its not a guarantee he helps the PP but he certainly cant make it worse

Agreed wholeheartly.

And this argument "oh he(Wideman) can't hurt the PP" is BS. Yo better be damn sure he helps it given how bad and soft he is on D. And nobody here can tell me he'll help the PP...not when Richards, McCabe and many others couldn't. It's the system not the players(obviously).

It makes less than no sense. It makes negative sense.

LOL

Maybe we could get the whole RPG line while we're at it.

That's classic.

Absolutely love Getzlaf. Wish it was true, but obviously, that's not likely.

Who needs wingers? We'll run an entire lineup of centers.

So Ryan is off the table, but Getzlaf is available? I'll wait for a reputable source to confirm it

Dude, I'm not blasting you for passing along the info. I just question the feasibility of the overall scenario. Relax.

Yea bro relax.

It's great you're passing along information you find but the rumor itself is what's really funny. Whoever comes up with these fake rumors needs to make them more realistic to be believable.

I didn't disagree with the feasibility or "quality of the source". It's not like I was saying "Hey its a done deal"

Guy has like 2k followers. Just enough to seem like he could get more right then Eklund, but not enough to seem completely reputable.

Gotcha. Although it's probably as feasible as trading for Ovechkin at the moment, it's still fun to think about. It's hard to imagine what Anaheim would want.
