So hope there's a bidding war for Wideman.

Realistically what do you think they would have to offer Suter to convince him to come to DC?

$7.5 x 7 or so? Maybe massage that cap got down if we go past 7 years.

Backstrom-like deal.

Personally, I think Suter signs with Nashville in late June for a solid $7.5M annually and as much term as he wants; blank check, really.

Sure seems GM isn't selling. He can go F himself if true.

If the Caps don't get 3 points this weekend and GM buys anyway, I'll be pretty incredulous.

with the lousy organEYEzation this team has in place or the uncertainty of an upheval, what makes you think he would even look twice?

Here's the exact wording from Larry Brooks Twitter "Rangers might have interest in Dennis Wideman but not available at moment. Caps will deal Hamrlik, who has $3.5M on over-35 next year."

I wouldn't make Wideman 'available' at the moment, either.

There are no other puck-movers on the market. Slow play it and get the best value.

Ah yes, the Summer of 2010, I remember it well

"Needing another defensemen, the Capitals had their sights set on Willie Mitchell, a veteran free agent that hadn't been signed because of injury concerns. However, they'll have to look elsewhere, as Mitchell ultimately has decided to sign with the Los Angeles Kings.

Mitchell's contract is reportedly for two years and $3.5 million, according to KingsCast. That would have been a high price to pay for the Capitals, so maybe it's best they passed on him."

Yes a high price. But then in the Summer of 2011 we do such a contract for Roman Hamrlik.

So which would you rather have, Mithchell or Hamrlik.

Reports that Hemsky offered $5 million for 2 years from the Oilers. If that's the case, those looking for a haircut for Semin are apt to be disappointed.

And what, trade Weber, arguably the better talent, or pay him even more?

I've been thinking maybe Nashville does just that.

That's for sure. Semin should expect a raise if Hemsky gets $5 mil per.

If Hemsky signs for 5 mill expect Semin to resign at his current cap hit .

I say one year a 6.7 million and make part of that performance bonus for 35+ goals.

I look at that as a slim hope to get maximum value for Semin at the deadline.

That doesn't work in hockey. Only works in sports like baseball.

It does but only on entry-level deals, certain players on one-year deals who missed 100+ games the previous season and 35yo+ players on one-year deals.

SunGarrioch: The Jackets are still shopping C Derek Brassard. Don't rule out him being dealt Monday. #NHL #SNTrade

Eh, could be a decent value play potentially. More of a long-term move but he's shown flashes of pretty good vision and has even dropped the gloves a couple times this year.

If we could pull these moves, I'd do them in a second, since we're likely not gonna get any top flight players. We are probably going to get Hunter type guys, to see if we can salvage the rest of the season under his system.

Semin, Schultz, WSH 2nd to Chicago for a CHI 2013 1st or 2nd, Stalberg, Lepisto

Hamrlik, WSH 3rd to VAN for Hodgson, Van 4th

Wideman to NYR for NYR 3rd, Wolski or Zuccarello

Eklund, feel free to use this if you're trolling. This is an E5 for sure, you d0uche.
