Mitchell re-signs with LA. Come on Suter. You know you want to play in DC.
Ah yes, the Summer of 2010, I remember it well
"Needing another defensemen, the Capitals had their sights set on Willie Mitchell, a veteran free agent that hadn't been signed because of injury concerns. However, they'll have to look elsewhere, as Mitchell ultimately has decided to sign with the Los Angeles Kings.
Mitchell's contract is reportedly for two years and $3.5 million, according to KingsCast. That would have been a high price to pay for the Capitals, so maybe it's best they passed on him."
Yes a high price. But then in the Summer of 2011 we do such a contract for Roman Hamrlik.
So which would you rather have, Mithchell or Hamrlik.
Personally, I think Suter signs with Nashville in late June for a solid $7.5M annually and as much term as he wants; blank check, really.
And what, trade Weber, arguably the better talent, or pay him even more?
I've been thinking maybe Nashville does just that.
George McPhee....The Teflon GM. 15 years of failure and counting....
6 - Number of playoff series the Capitals have won since George McPhee took over as General Manager in 1997 (which makes him the third-longest-tenured GM in the League), three of which came in McPhee's first season on the job.
If we could pull these moves, I'd do them in a second, since we're likely not gonna get any top flight players. We are probably going to get Hunter type guys, to see if we can salvage the rest of the season under his system.
Semin, Schultz, WSH 2nd to Chicago for a CHI 2013 1st or 2nd, Stalberg, Lepisto
Hamrlik, WSH 3rd to VAN for Hodgson, Van 4th
Wideman to NYR for NYR 3rd, Wolski or Zuccarello
Eklund, feel free to use this if you're trolling. This is an E5 for sure, you d0uche.
