i don't know why, but any trade to the Devils is just...boring. Like when Kovy went there, i was like...oh, not exciting

We already have Jumbo and Couture centering the 2 top lines. Would he center the 3rd line? Seems like a bit of a waste to have as good as he may be.

Sure but would you give him $5m? Otherwise, it's a waste of a 1st.

I wonder if Grabo can play wing? All I know is that he has great underlying numbers, hands, and creativity. I'd love to have him, even if it meant shifting Couture temporarily to the wing.

Or you pair them off:

Thornton/Pavs
Clowe/Couture
Havlat/Grabs

You have Marleau, Moore & McGinn to play wing on any of the lines.

Seeing as the fans here believe DW will fail w/ that 1st round pick anyway (I'm not one of them) I think it could be worth it.

Definitely a possibility but DW would have to get a read on his ability to re-sign him. Doesn't sound like he wants any more rentals.

I can't remember, have we tried McGinn with JT/Pavs? If that would work you stick Marleau with Clowe/Couture and Moore with Grabo/Havlat and that is a pretty sick lineup.

Cleary we're getting MaxPac for Mitchell and a 1rst and Pominville for Havlat. Duh.

Yeah, for a little bit. McGinn's hockey sense and ability to hold the puck along the boards isn't quite there. Better off running a McGinn / Grabo / Havlat line and using Moore with Jumbo / Pavs.

I never read too much into scouts being at games. They almost never lead to any trades.

if i remember correctly (on the McGinn + JT/Pavs), i think there was a game for a period or two, but the ever constant changing lines didnt have that stick long. dont think it worked, i could be wrong on all accounts.

I don't remember him staying on the line for even an entire game. Could be wrong.

Yeah, I don't think so. He just doesn't have the poise / sense along the boards like Moore and even Wingels is showing. Desjardins' board / cycle work is better than McGinn's. McGinn is slowly getting better at it - confidence and patience is what he needs to develop.

Yeah, that's what I thought. The problem is that Ginner seems like he'd be a great fit on paper, but in practice he just really isn't. He's got the speed, the physicality, the strength, and the shot, but he just doesn't seem to have the anticipation playing with those two requires.

Honestly, no one but Marleau has been able to do much of anything with JT/Pavs this season and I really prefer Marleau with Cooch/Clowe. Desy has been the best so far and that is not a good thing.

Scouts are always at games, even for just advanced scouting. People only make a big deal about it during Deadline time.

Here's the whole deal:

Devils officially announce trade. It's' Foster, Veilleux, Palmieri and Washington's 2012 2nd round pick & conditional 2013 3rd round pick for Marek Zidlicky.

That's quite a bit for Zidlicky.

Wow. The Devils got bent over there. Minnesota basically had to trade Zids. I'm surprised they got so much back.
