Richards, was he worth it all?

Simple question, do you think Richards is worth what he's being paid and all of the hype he was receiving going into free agency?

He's obviously not meeting expectation so far, but it's way too soon to make any final judgements here...

He's not producing like expected, BUT, he makes plays that no one else on the team can make, AND he forces teams to play us differently because they have to respect his ability.

It's great to be retrospective after merely 59 games.

Cut the guy some slack for a little while.

Not with the way he's being used.

Anyone notice that he has a bald spot now?

worth it all? what did we give up to get him? don't you think it's a bit premature to make any conclusions 72% of the way through his first season with the team?

We signed him at a lesser number than we thought and he's producing a little lesser than we thought. No sweat bro-

Seriously though.

Does he have Loui Erickson on his wing here?

He has said publicly that Torts system here is more defence minded then he remembered in TB & not what he's used to after the past few years in Dallas.

7gwg speaks for itself.

Not sure why a 3rd or 4th thread with this theme is waranted so soon into his 1st season here.

What does this even mean?

He hasn't even been half as good as Gomez or Drury in their 1st Ranger seasons.

How long do we cut him slack? The guy is ****ing awful.

He's playing with ****ing grinders. What do you expect him to do? Get him a sniper like he's ALWAYS had and he'll produce like he ALWAYS did.

It's not like he's setting up opportunities they can't bury, the guy can't even make a tape to tape pass.

His shootout record is indicative of how awful he's been. One of the best post lockout shootout records, 0 for 8 for the Rangers. Unbelievable.

We got a nice glimpse of Brad Richards against Philly last week. IDK who the **** this guy is.

Yes I think he was worth it. Not up to par completely, but that's why I'm glad we aren't paying him 7.5-8m (cap wise). At 6.6 he can afford to be a little off...I'll take the 65 pt year because he's obviously made our lineup deeper plus the 7 GWG.

Of course he's overpaid, but so are all UFAs. So far he's been a little disappointing, but he has scored more clutch goals than "Captain Clutch" who is now making pizzas and was way overpaid, as well.

Uh, because he has zero trust for his linemates. How hard is that for you to see? He constantly shoots more than passes when, over his career, he's always passed first. He simply has no chemistry or trust with whoever Torts pairs him with. Time to get him a real, bonafide sniper to play on his wing. Something he's always had.

Dubinsky has almost as many assists as Richards does, and who the hell has he played with this season?

No excuses for Richards. You get paid to be a No. 1 center, start acting like a No. 1 center.

It's not like Richards has been setting up his "grinders" with gimme chances that they're blowing. He's not setting anything up. Hagelin's set up for his goal against the Jackets was nicer than anything Richards has done in weeks.

He's not "setting anything up" because why bother? Even if he did, his wingers couldn't finish. Brad is trying to do everything he can to score. That includes not passing the puck and trying to do it himself. It's painfully obvious for anyone who's ever played hockey. If you can't trust your linemates, you try to do far too much yourself.

0-8 in the shootout this year; dreadful...I don't know whats worse, him or the fact that Torts STILL puts him out there...

This is a bad excuse for his performance thus far. Gaborik and Callahan both have more goals then Eriksson, neither of them are doing it because of Richards.

I guess Hagelin trusts his linemates, his twice as effective every single shift then Richards.
