Discussing Klein and whether or not he is a liability is cool and all, but does everything thread have to turn into that?

I think the fire continues to burn in every thread because the fact is Klein is the weak link on this team people clearly see that and then you have some on here who defend the guy and you just wonder what games they are watching.

If you have to ask that question, you already know the answer.

I'm well aware of why the debate rages. It was a rhetorical question meant to usher the discussion out of this thread since it's... you know... about Smithson being traded and all

As for Klein being a "solid #3", I strongly disagree. He is a #3 out of default and it's a major area of concern. He has been burned in the playoffs when we're having to face teams that have 2 legit scoring lines, such as Vancouver and Chicago. We might as well add Detroit and SJ as teams with two legit scoring lines.
Never heard anyone say he's a "solid #3." I agree that he is the #3 by default and is wrongly used in that role, but he is a solid #4 IMO. He just can't be relied on to anchor the 2nd pairing. He is more of a complementary player and needs to be playing with someone better than him, not worse.

Honestly I haven't even read the thread yet and I'm sure it's full of ZOMG! Thank baby Jesus he is gone! I'm going to go the other way and recognize his superb service the the Predators over the years. This guy was the definition of a foot solider and would run through a wall for the team if asked too. He was a great PK'er and scored the biggest goal in franchise history thus far. I feel bad for him being traded when this was the best team we have had since 07. Thank you for your service Smitty!

Now, on the other hand this is exciting because it obviously means there is other plans for the Preds. Preds brass loves this guy and they wouldn't let him go unless they were opening up another spot. It doesn't necessarily mean a top 6 guy but perhaps the Preds are looking to upgrade on Smitty's spot.
Gaustad perhaps?

I have no qualms with people voicing their opinions but Mods can we please have a everything Klein thread or something?

Thirded, there seems to be a common theme with the sprawling Klein discussion

I brought the Dear Kevin Klein thread back from the grave. We can't deny that a discussion could lead to talk about Klein, but for the most part can we keep the debate to that thread?

Shock. I never thought they would trade him. I just hope all the South beach Cougars don't look at him as potential date bait.

Gonna kinda miss Smithers and was surprised because he always seemed like Trotz's guy to eventually make a coach out of... Honestly, he always kind of reminded me of Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age movies!!

I'm a little surprised, but it was coming eventually.
He's worked hard for us over the years and best of luck to to him in FL.

Love those videos too. Will never get old.

Wow. Didn't really think my wish would actually come true. Guess the GM was seeing what we were seeing. Best of luck to Smitty and what he has contributed to the Preds in his tenure. He seemed like a nice guy and dedicated Predator. It just was his time to go to hopefully strengthen the team as a whole. Glad for what he has contributed to the Preds team though.

Your "trash" seems to work out well for us. We'll recycle it anytime.

Well ... I ... am ... shocked at this move. Cannot believe it.

Not upset, just surprised GMDP would move Trotz's stalwart. Good luck in FL Smithers ... thanks for all the years in Nashville.

I could never be a GM; would get too attached to people.
Exactly how I feel.

Thanks for your years Smithson, that OT goal will live in Predators lore forever!!

I get to see Smithson wearing a Cats sweater next Saturday down in Florida! I'll see if I can pass on my condolences, Goc too. I did like Goc a lot. I might even forget to remember which team to cheer for if I just go by the names on the backs of the jerseys.
