Back To Business (7:30 PM)
New York Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers (FSNY, ESPN Radio 1050 AM)

(Nov. 11) Saturday ended a successful four-game homestand at the Coliseum, as Tuesday, the Islanders travel to the Wachovia Center for a meeting with the Atlantic Division-leading Flyers. The Isles will try to move past their weekend defeat at the hands of the Thrashers, when they play their first game of the season in Philadelphia. After running up a 6-2-0-0 record at home, the Islanders look to even their road results, currently 1-2-2-0, with a win in Philly.

The Insider: The Book On The Flyers
New York Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers
7:30 PM, November 11 @ Wachovia Center

(Nov. 11) The Flyers' season has been Ken Hitchcock Business as usual, as they've used an attention to defense to dominate opponents in the early going and outscoring the enemy, 42-27. With a three-game win streak in their pocket, the team settles in for a three-game homestand, starting Tuesday night. It's a prime location for Philly, who are undefeated this year in the hallowed halls of SomeBanksNameHere Center.

Last Time Out
Philadelphia played a matinee in New York Saturday afternoon, knocking off the Rangers in overtime, capping a comeback that started less than a minute into the third period. On a powerplay, Tony Amonte picked up his sixth goal of the season before assisting on Marcus Ragnarsson's game-winner 1:01 into the extra frame. Hackett got his third victory of the year, stopping 21 of 22 shots faced.

Stirling Says
"Not one positive. I usually find a silver lining. But not one positive here." - on what he took from Saturday's game

The Scoop On The Philadelphia Flyers

(Nov. 11) The Isles head down to the City of Brotherly Love to take on an old rival for the first time this season. With Philadelphia in first place in the Atlantic Division, the Isles will be gunning for a share of the lead in one of the most competitive divisions in the NHL this season. Jeff Hackett will get the nod for the Flyers as Philly enters the game with their cleanest bill of health so far this year.

Where They Stand:
The Flyers are atop of the tightly packed Atlantic Division with a record of 7-2-3-1. With 18 points, they are a single point ahead of the defending champions, the New Jersey Devils. The Islanders find themselves two points behind Philadelphia coming into tonight's contest. If the Isles win and cards fall right is other games around the NHL, the Isles would find themselves in first place in the Atlantic.
************************************************** **
Yet another test for the Isles who are coming off a dissapointing loss against Atlanta. They're gonna have to work hard for all 60 minutes here and not let up in order to gain the two points. This is an important divisional matchup that cannot betaken lightly for them. I will be in Bridgeport today checking out the Sound Tigers for an afternoon game, so I won't be able to check out most, if not all of the Isles. But I will give some belated thoughts from what I hope is an Islanders victory Take care!

Looks to be Snow vs Hackett tonight in goal.

Philadelphia should have all of their regulars back. Claude Lapointe missed games due to personal reasons but skated in practice yesterday and could play tonight.

From the Isles end, Asham should play and Blake may play. No updated word on Peca as of this time.

Isles need to make up for those lost points against Atlanta. Seems to be the game Snow always plays best in and he has not lost since the opener against Washington.

I thought Snow as well, he usually plays well against the Flyers.

Also Flyers are still missing Somik, but he is the only regular that should miss the game tonight.

I'm surprised they would start Snow. He seems to be having a poor start. I would think they would put their best goalie out there, considering that this is going to be a tough divisional rival game. Is Snow just having problems adjusting to the pad restrictions this season?

He seems to play his best hockey against our beloved Flyers, so i guess they're trying to kickstart him by giving him the nod tonight

I hope the isles aren't distracted by the circus that we're seeing over moving Weimer.

Isles are coming off a disappointing effort against a tired Thrashers team. It'll be interesting to how they come out tonight.

Isles and Snow usually play well in Philly. But the atmosphere over the Weimer situation could offset that. Even though Weimer played Sat., I bet players knowing that a salary dump\personnel change was coming was a partial reason for the letdown vs. Atlanta. Will be interesting to see the reaction tonight. I'd be happily suprised and amazed if Blake comes back so quickly from his injury and plays tonight. Scatchard will be missed in a possible physical contest vs. Fly guys.

A disapointing result in a game that was hard fought and very well played by both teams. Was their much room for either team out there?

Isles had many chances and were stoned on many occasions by Hackett and one by Handzus.Flyers were very opportunistic in cashing in on two breaks, one when the pass from Boots seemed to jump over Jonsson's stick and the other that deflected off a player's back onto Recchi's stick in front of the net.

Isles play like they did tonight and they more often than not will win the game.

It was an entertaining game.

but the Isles key guys have stopped scoring.
It's been awhile since Yashin scored.
I think 2 of Parrish's 3 goals came in 1 game
and if you take away Peca's empty netter,he's got 1 goal in 12/13 games.

A very entertaining game to watch and I think the Isles battled hard in spite of the Weimer situation. They were bottled up in their own zone a little too much but Philly is playing well and our D still managed a lot of good breakout passes against a big, strong trapping team. Jonsson was
-2 while Aucoin and Boots were -1 but losing 2 to 1 against a very good and very hot team is not an embarrassment. The play of Hunter, Niinimaa and Snow was a positive and the amount of effort the team put out was as well. They never gave up.

Isles vs Flyers

One of those 3 or 4 point-blank chances should have gone in.

Great game. You want to pull these games out against division rivals and get at least a point on the road but it was not to be. Philly is fortunate to come out with a W but their D and Hackett definitely earned it.

Hunter played great but had no luck. It is very enjoyable watching this kid storm into the other team zone with the puck, fake the D out of their pants and get a quality shot on goal. He seems to do it at least once a game. He may be the real thing.

Both teams played well.

Disappointing they did not get the point because they played well, cannot complain with the effort. One goal can change this kind of game and the Flyers got it after the Isles did not because of Handzus.

Yashin hit the post on an excellent pass from Czerkawski.
Aucoin finally hit the net with a perfect pp setup.

Peca and Parrish have to start giving this team some offense, cannot have a second line that does not produce anything. Only time Peca did anything was shorthanded.

They hardly looked intimidated on the physical end, in many cases they outhit Philadelphia.

Hunter had some excellent shifts and burried Weinrich. Looks like he belongs in the top six forwards.

See what happens against Montreal. They have to keep pace and get points.

Godard v. Brashear in the first 5 minutes...bad move regardless of whether Godard wins the fight...there was no reason to fight other than selfish motives...and Godard got his butt kicked...let the aggression build up not start flat...

again, what in the world is Captain Shy doing on the ice in the final minute of play???? he has 2 goals (1 EN and 1 9 games ago!)...

too bad NYI couldn't at least tie it to take a point...

Montreal is a big transition game...two straight losses...need to get get a point out of that game and hold the fort at home....

The thing that surprised me most in the game last night was that Peca was a complete no-show.

Usually even if he doesn't get on the score sheeet he is noticable out there. I don't think he threw a single body check, and the only time I noticed him was while the Isles were shorthanded.

How has he played this year ???

Peca has been great both defensively against other teams best lines as well as on the #1 ranked PK in the NHL.

However, his offense has been pretty much non existent which is very troubling coming from your #2 center.

As for last nights game he was questionable with back spasms and I'm hoping that had alot to do with why he wasn't finishing checks, because so far this year he has used the body more regularly than last season.
