The Insider: The Book On The Flyers
New York Islanders vs. Philadelphia Flyers
7:30 PM, November 11 @ Wachovia Center
(Nov. 11) The Flyers' season has been Ken Hitchcock Business as usual, as they've used an attention to defense to dominate opponents in the early going and outscoring the enemy, 42-27. With a three-game win streak in their pocket, the team settles in for a three-game homestand, starting Tuesday night. It's a prime location for Philly, who are undefeated this year in the hallowed halls of SomeBanksNameHere Center.
Last Time Out
Philadelphia played a matinee in New York Saturday afternoon, knocking off the Rangers in overtime, capping a comeback that started less than a minute into the third period. On a powerplay, Tony Amonte picked up his sixth goal of the season before assisting on Marcus Ragnarsson's game-winner 1:01 into the extra frame. Hackett got his third victory of the year, stopping 21 of 22 shots faced.

The Scoop On The Philadelphia Flyers
(Nov. 11) The Isles head down to the City of Brotherly Love to take on an old rival for the first time this season. With Philadelphia in first place in the Atlantic Division, the Isles will be gunning for a share of the lead in one of the most competitive divisions in the NHL this season. Jeff Hackett will get the nod for the Flyers as Philly enters the game with their cleanest bill of health so far this year.
Where They Stand:
The Flyers are atop of the tightly packed Atlantic Division with a record of 7-2-3-1. With 18 points, they are a single point ahead of the defending champions, the New Jersey Devils. The Islanders find themselves two points behind Philadelphia coming into tonight's contest. If the Isles win and cards fall right is other games around the NHL, the Isles would find themselves in first place in the Atlantic.

Yet another test for the Isles who are coming off a dissapointing loss against Atlanta. They're gonna have to work hard for all 60 minutes here and not let up in order to gain the two points. This is an important divisional matchup that cannot betaken lightly for them. I will be in Bridgeport today checking out the Sound Tigers for an afternoon game, so I won't be able to check out most, if not all of the Isles. But I will give some belated thoughts from what I hope is an Islanders victory

Take care!
