"Roy to the Preds"

Not and E-anything, but he says the Preds for sure have Roy on their "radar". What will it cost Nashville? It'll almost have to be picks/prospects.

Wasn't it just a day ago Eklund said Hemsky was going to the Preds?

As for the rumor itself, Roy seems like he would be a good fit with the Preds.

He is considered a legitimate media source on HF.

People may not like Eklund, but he does have his moments, and he runs a website that features other members of the media with credible backgrounds.

I'd feel sorry for you having to read all of these Eklund threads, but something tells me that nobody forces you, or anyone else to.

As for the topic at hand, Roy would be a really good pickup for the Preds. I'd think that Buffalo would want to see Wilson coming back in such a deal though.

Eklund DOES have sources, and he does report valid rumours.

He does also have a site to run, and generates traffic on that site by throwing up rediculous rumours. You will find that he generally picks big name players and big fanbase's.

Toronto, Philly, Sabres, Ottawa ect.

Why don't we discuss what it would it would cost Nashville to get Roy instead of the merits of Eklund as a source?

I think Poile would give a similar package that he sent to Ottawa for Mike Fisher, so a first-round pick and a conditional 2nd-round pick.

Alternatively, possibly a good prospect (e.g., Ellis) and a 2nd-round pick.

I would be surprised if the Sabres traded Roy for picks.

IF they move him, I think they'd look to get a stud prospect C back, like say Roy to Florida in a deal that gets them someone like Bjugstad.

And the Sabres have plenty of D prospects, so I don't see them dealing Roy for Ellis.

And I don't see the Preds having the high end C prospect that would intrigue Buffalo.

Which I don't really understand at all. Who considers him legit? Not that I care, talking trade is why we come here but I'll never understand the prefix. As far as Roy going to the Preds, I doubt they'd take on a guy who makes as much as he does next season considering they're a budget team who's also trying to hold onto a great player in Suter.

The Sabres needs include centers. I don't see him being moved.

If Wilson is the price, no thank you.

I don't see Poile trading any of our current Top 6 forwards, unless it's for Nash. (Erat, Fisher, Kostitsyn, Legwand, Wilson, Hornqvist). Hornqvist is actually the only player I could see being moved for Roy.

Why do people ask what it would take to get a player to their team and then get offended when they get their answer. Roy is one of the hottest players in the league right now (4 goals, 5 assists in February), prior to being injured averaged around 70 pts a season and is only 28 and under contract. Do you think Nashville is the only team interested in acquiring him?

Eklund is always full of crap, but I believe this one, Roy and Trotz would have good chemistry and they do need a centre and Roy could fill that spot.

i bet the deal would be Roy for a defenseman. Darcy always seems to have a boner for getting defense.

The problem is that Buffalo will want a 1st and a center prospect for Roy. Nashville's got the 1st, but most of their prospects are defensemen and wingers, which resembles Buffalo's pipeline to a tee. Since Nashville isn't trading Wilson or Smith, I don't see a match here. Would much rather deal with Chicago.

Ownership has already stated they we will be spending near the cap next year. I'm not saying I believe it, just that it's been said.

Would love Roy as a pred. The validity of this rumor however is terrible. Seems like Eklund just reads hfboards as his "source".

I never said it was fair value, but that's what it would take to pry Buffalo's only top-6 center away from them. Overpayment.

He's not available.
He is more valuable to the Predators than anyone else, regardless of whether he's in the NHL or not.

There's nothing that they could get that would be significant enough to convince them to move him because no GM in their right mind would trade a high quality player that has defected.

If you do a search, you'll get about 5 or so threads which were started within the last couple months.
