If indeed they were trading him, I imagine George McPhee would kill to get the guy to play alongside Ovechkin.
Would give up a pretty penny for Alexander, would love him on the Avs....not sure what it would cost (since we don't have 2012 1st)

Panthers are going to be a scary team in the future. Kulikov is going to lead that defense, what a stud, with help from Gudby and Eberlly. Their offense is deep in the prospect poll too: Huber, Howden, Budjstad (sp?).

This team is going to be a pain in the ass to play in the future. Glad they are out East!

Since February 2010:

Wojtek Wolski -> Peter Mueller & Kevin Porter
Wojtek Wolski -> Michal Rozsival
Wojtek Wolski -> Michael Vernace & 3rd 2012

That is sad. I still can't believe the Avalanche traded away a rising star like the media would have us believe at the time.

Kevin Porter has more goals than Wolski since the start of last year.

I have a dream, still, about Stastny and Wolski tearing it up in those snazzy burgundy 3rds from here to eternity

They were supposed to be so awesome...

I miss the burgundy 3rds a lot more than I miss Wolski, sad to say.

eklund has the flyers interrested in gigure. don't really want to see him traded, but, curious to see what he could draw from the flyers. a first round pick maybe,a young prospect? voracek? could be interesting if the rumors are true.

It's Eklund. Of course they aren't.

I can't imagine Avs entertaining the notion of trading Giguere. If they are, they are idiots. There are more to a player than trade value.

I highly doubt Giguere is on the block, unless Giguere himself has quietly asked for a trade to a cup contender.

It'd be nice if management actually came out and quelled silly rumors like this, but we know they won't.

Not here. Trade value>>what a player brings to a team

Why would he? He knew exactly what he was signing himself up for when he signed here, and by all accounts he seemed to embrace his role on the team.

Man it's weird how much Wolski has fallen, a rising star, to a struggling winger, to barely in the NHL.

Which is why I said it's up to Giguere. He seems like he likes the team, the team seems to like him.

I guess neither really panned out long term huh. We got Mueller for Wolski though, and all we got for the burgundy's were those damn blueberries.

Not really sure what I'm trying to say with that.

I think they would be hurting themselves more than helping if they moved Kulikov... and Kulikov's value is much higher.

A good honest-to-goodness trade that boosts Florida and reinforces the Avalanche would be:

Keaton Ellerby
Shawn Mattias
2012 1st Round Pick
2012 2nd Round Pick

for

Paul Stastny

That doesnt help Avs. We're a much worse team without Stastny.

Stastny should only be dealt for a front line winger, or a top pairing LH defenceman.

I'm watching the Jets, trying to figure out who we could be after. Mark Stuart? Former CC guy signed to a reasonable deal for a few years. I don't know if he's developed into all that much more than a bottom pairing guy though.

Just skipped over it.
Why does basically everybody think we want to unload Stastny and his contract for scraps?

Ok to be honest there offers are still 100x better than the usual Gunnarson,Komisarek,Damigo,3rd.

I dont know too much about Florida but would Ellerby and Mathias and say the 15th pick in the draft be good value for Paul?

I would insist on Bjugstad or atleast Howden included but I am really not that familiar with Florida.

Why wouldn't Giggy ask for a trade? He knows that Varly was brought here to be the starter. I think he only settled on the backup job here is because Toronto broke him. With the media scrutiny, it has be really hard to be a top player there. He comes here, finds out that his game is not dead, plays well, and decides he can help a playoff bound team. It's not that farfetched. No goalie in the league wants to be a backup if they can help it.
