By acquiring those three pieces, you have allow Legwand to move to the two-way center role that he's thrived at over the past decade, move Spaling to wing on the new shutdown line, and bump Bouillon to the No. 7 spot and give Klein some help moving the puck out of the zone.
That would be a great weekend/Monday, but a tall order as well. It would certainly be one boring draft (though I wouldn't mind).

hmm, no thanks ill pass. wilson is a big contributor on our team offensively and has been one of our best forwards. we lose our 1st and the chance of radulov coming back at under a million.

pretty much after this year we'd look back with plekanec and the habs would have wilson, radulov, and a 1st round choice ... no wonder MTL fans like it.

I agree. Wilson AND Rads make it a no-go.

I've heard that a couple times and the thing that's overlooked is that Poile can get back picks after the season trading away guys and their rights...

maybe, but i doubt it. I just hope Poile can capitalize.

If we can't get a 1st, I'd rather do something like Carle (also a UFA) + 3rd so we can get a replacement for him signed early on.

I think Leopold would do really really well in a Trotz system.

I do too...

Suter - Weber
Gill - Josi
Leopold - Klein

It looks great to me! Solves the issue of who to pair with Josi on PP2 as well...

Also, I think I will die if the Rangers end up with Nash.

Gaborik - Richards - Nash

Lundqvist

Kill me.

And they still won't win anything. That's over 1/3 of the salary cap tied up in one forward line. I know the Rangers can burn money like no other, but ouch.

The East has no defensive stalwarts outside of the Bruins. They could sneak into the Cup Finals quite easily each year. If they manage to hold onto two McDo/MDZ/Staal, they could be the best team in the east for the next 3-4 years easily.

Derek Roy is pretty much a lock for 60-70 points. He's not having a good year, but he is on a very affordable contract. Next year, a combo of Roy and Radulov could be deadly. Are Preds fans interested? Also read a lot out about Leopold in this thread...I'm thinking he is on the block for us as well. Anyone want to propose a package?

I've heard tell that neither Smith or Wilson are available. With that being said, I propose something centered around:

Roy
Leopold
Pick

for

Josi
Hornqvist
one of Spaling or Tootoo
Pick

That doesn't make Nashville better at all. Heading into the playoffs, this makes no sense.

They'd better win it this year, because going forward that cap situation is a disaster.

You have $22M tied up in Gaborik, Nash, and Richards, another $6.8M per in Lundqvist. You add in Dubinsky, Callahan, Staal, and Girardi, you are at 44.4M. Even if the cap goes up a little, you're talking about around $16-$17M to fill in 10-12 spots on your roster. It's doable, but there's no wiggle room, and their depth/bottom 6 is probably going to be pretty poor.

Anyone else slightly nervous that Rolston, a vet offensive player, is on waivers?

I suggested him earlier this year as a potential trade target. Certainly cements Ellis in the AHL for the time being until the likes of Bu and Hillen are no longer with us. That said, I don't think another defenseman is at the top of Trotz to-do list, one would hope.

Hillen and Bouillon will be gone in the summer. Adding another veteran PMD would mean a lot to this team IMO...

No. It would be a pretty low-risk move, and just cost some extra $ if we did bring him in, but I don't see the purpose from Poile's POV.
