I don't get the trade KO proposals unless it's for something obviously better or a bigger need. KO is 4th on our team in ES points. We need a center and top-4 defender. Ideally, we add while keeping Kyle Okposo who has proven he can actually play in the corners where we're quite weak. KO showed he can excel next to Tavares. If you go with the idea that PAP and KO are your top-2 RWs, then you need to upgrade the size and shooting ability of your 2nd line center and possibly add even more size to 2nd line LW.

I understand trading Nielsen or Grabner for someone with finish that is guaranteed or a similar player with more size. I understand trading PAP purely because of his pending UFA status (and only if we're getting 1st-round type payments coming in.)

I definitely wouldn't mind adding Dustin Brown. I'd like to do it while keeping Okposo so we actually get bigger at another roster slot. More than anything, we need to improve the mix. We need more guys who can be depended on to regularly score goals. We need more size down the middle. We need more talented guys who can play along the boards. We should be looking to improve ES and sustained offense. We should be looking to improve the size on defense so we can get possession back more often. Someone who could get Rolston off the *** PP would also be a blessing.

Mitch

Someone posted that Bob McKenzie is saying, Snow rejected an offer of a 2nd rounder for Nabokov.

Has anyone read any rumors from any other credible sources? I'm not talking Eklund or hockeybuzz team bloggers.

His level of effort is pretty inconsistent, and at this point I don't think anyone can claim the injury as a stumbling block with a straight face anymore. About all I see from him lately is his attempts at forcing his one dangle move and it works less and less... You say you don't get why people want to move him, where I wonder why people don't want to move him.

Do you think he he's met your expectations this year? He is a guy you want in the 50+ pt range. He will be lucky to break 40 with the way he is playing. Trade me his equal on defense and I would take it and run.

If Snow didn't take a second then he is clearly dead-set on trying to sign him

His effort doesn't concern me. His hockey sense does.

Love Sekera!

Don't care for Jackman. The others are usable.

Lydman is however a guy who would be targeted by a playoff team looking for depth.

That's the thing... He doesn't always seem to be on his rocker.

Seeing what he did for Richards in the summer (not bad) and then for Carter (whoaaaa, lots of risk there), I think he's ripe to be robbed a bit.

No doubt the Streits, Grabners and Okposos of the world could be of interest and he might look at lateral moves under the right circumstances.

No reason for Snow the UNDERSELL at the moment!

Actually, I wonder if Parenteau could help those guys score more???

Grant Clitsome on Waivers

http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8471482

I'm very surprised to see him on Waivers.

This is a guy who was the target of potential suitors earlier in the year. Is he someone we want to pursue?

Serviceable depth defensemen, wouldn't mind picking him up to fill out our roster for the season if we trade some defenseman.

Now that that's settled, the rest of the thread will mostly be jokes about his last name.

I think Cole isn't exactly what Isles are looking for.
It would be much easier If Isles could get a 1st round pick for PAP and then later at the draft trade that pick and add something to it for the defenseman they like. Isles need a top 4.

Too small and with 1.4M salary for next season not cheap. I would rather pay Shane O'Brien.

That's a tempting grab off waivers. Had a good season last year but this year has unimpressed.

He has more points than our entire 4th line though.

Pretty sure someone will claim him. If the Isles do grab him it will be part of another move, one of Jurcina, Staois or Eaton will be traded.

According to the NHL.com stats he is 5'11" and 215 lbs. You might have been thinking of Russell, the kid they traded to St. Louis.

I know the Islanders don't have a lot of desirable trade-able assets but with the crazy prices being thrown around, I think they got to get in on this by selling off some spare weight.

The only guy that may bring back a half way decent return is Jurcina. I think Garth should be actively shopping him.

5'11" isn't tall and for 1.4M you maybe can get Shane O'Brien, I would pay even more for him.

What does everyone think of Okposo and Bailey for Brown and Forbert?

Last year on July 13 O'Brien signed for one year in Colorado for 1.1M. Don't tell me he wouldn't have chosen us for 1.5M. He would have been worth a 2 year contract either, but there was only Ehrhoff or Staios.
Clitsome wouldn't be bad, he plays on a bad team, same as Stralman last year and take a look at his stats now in MSG. Clitsome could improve the same but it would be much better to have someone at 6'3" (O'Brien) than 5'11".
As long as Streit is here there are not many opportunities for PP, Streit plays mostly all alone, but if you want to trade Streit on Monday you can claim Clitsome now.
