I cant blame him either. I think Nash camp feels they were patient with Howson and that Howson is dicking around too much.
Definitely. It seems to me that Nash went about everything the right way, didn't publicly complain, didn't rant in the locker room, hasn't done anything to force the GM's hand... and probably expected to be traded with certainty by this deadline to a team that he wanted to go to... and now with the uncertainty if the GM will trade him, he's gotten justifiably angry.
I think Nash not only doesn't want to be a part of this type of locker room and team any longer, but fears that some of the teams on his list may not bid for his services this summer with the same passion as there are FA's (like Parise) and possibly other players made available over the summer (like potentially Ryan/Perry/Getzlaf for example).
I would want a trade, and certainty now, rather than later as well.
Girardi, McDonagh, Del Zotto, and Staal are locks on defense for the next several years.
You cant assume at this point that Sauer's career is over, and he'll be back in the mix.
A cheap veteran free agent addition wouldnt be the worst thing in the world.
McIlrath is a #10 overall. Its a bad, bad pick if hes not in the mix soon.
Tim Erixon is going to hold up a deal for Rick Nash now? C'mon.
Doesn't matter who is on the current roster. Who's the most ready prospect we have that's knocking on the door?
Nobody is arguing that Erixon will hold up a deal, what we're arguing is what sounded like you saying there are other prospects that are ahead of Erixon. You should've made it clear you were talking about guys on the current NHL roster.
nash is def a goner, if howson doesn't make a move this whole situation will turn out really ugly and puts the jackets at risk for getting a really low return if he waits.
The fact that no one is scratched tells me the trade isn't close to being done.
Our team plays a very physical and hazardous game, we're gritty, block shots, have the most fighting majors in the league... if i'm an opposing GM, making a trade with us doesn't drag on for too long if we are playing games.
I'm starting to think Nash won't get moved at the deadline. Columbus doesn't really need to trade him and if they aren't getting what they are looking for then why trade him?

true, but after the crap howson has put nash through and the comments early today from Nash's agent...i'd be really shocked if he is not moved by the deadline

Yeah. Except they really do need to trade him.

I feel like they kind of have to. He's made it pretty clear he wants out. And to trade Carter, then hang onto Nash is kind of like an "F-U" to him. Also, why hang onto him (a player who wants to go to a winner) now when the return will be equal/probably less in the summer.?
Unless the offers are truly terrible, I would have no clue why Howson would hang onto him. I feel like our package we're supposedly offering is fine. Compare it to what got Kovalchuk.
If I was GM I'd just salivate at the chance to have two wingers in the top 7 highest paid players in the league and have neither of them wear a letter.

Talk about spending where it matters.
Who cares about wearing a letter when both of them are classy guys and are regular 30+ goal scorers.....and to top it off, are both under 30. Its actually a good thing to add quality players who arent needed to be team leaders. It means that your club is already stable and adding quality pieces just makes it better.
EDIT: Gabby just turned 30 but with his athletic ability, he's fine.

Name the other 7 million dollar men who don't wear letters.
But again. What does it matter?
Being a captain or an alternate captain isnt about how good you are. It is about your leadership role within the team. There has never been a rule that states that your most talented players need to be your team leaders.
