Whitesnake, I'd be very surprised if Gainey has as much input as he once had, there's no sense firing the managment team at this point in the season, ride this disaster out till April, get rid of the last half of the Ottawa intelligensia (Gauthier), make Gainey a goodwill ambassader, bring in Pat Brisson, and the retool begins
Well I'm going with the news than Gainey-Carrière and Timmins are helping Molson. Don't fire anybody right now, I don't care. But DON'T use Gainey as a help either. Like I said in another post, just ask Timmins at this point. Actually, that's the whole point. We need to restack some draft picks. That's Timmins' job. So he's the only one you should ask from some pointers. And actually, Timmins would be part of the package for the next GM. Yep, I understand the GM usually get his own people, but Timmins stays. If you don't want Timmins, you don't have the job.
PG was being quite successful until December this year. In which time, I am now told, he may not have been in control.
Which would mean that the failure isn't PG, it's whoever was in control at that time... apparently, that someone is Molson and his commitee.
you are assuming that Marinaro is correct about his dates about all this. Which is a very BIG assumption.
also PG has been a failure since day 1, he was never the right guy for the job.
Also, RDS is saying that PG is still the GM, but Molson has to approve everything. There are probably 20 GMs in the league that need to clear stuff by the owner.
Following the opinions of "most fans" is no way to run a hockey organization. That "most fans" guy is far, FAR from an expert.
Yes, but it did make sense to follow through with that move. Watch how the Martin record in 2011-2012 surfaced when the team was on a 5 game losing streak with Randy C.
People judged the move solely on the outcome. No one here ever says "****, it was a bad move, I was wrong".
We're conscious that we're not experts, yet we judge the management of this team as if we were.

Judging by the Gill trade, this does not have Gauthier or Gainey's markings on it at all, I'm willing to bet that Timmins is involved , and there may be other hockey people as well, would love to know who they are. Don't remember hearing Marinaro say, that Gainey/Carrier were involved in his advisory group, but I agree with you, if they are, then the habs are spinning their tires with more old ideas
