Jack Johnson sucks. He made everyone around him worse. Kings added by subtraction on that one.
This. It's not an exaggeration to say he is one of the worst defensemen in the NHL compared to his contract. (hell period.)
His stats are so bad, it's comical, and there is no 'nice' way to spin them. Howsen is clearly an idiot. Especially since he asked for Couture and thought that was going to fly
It's possible Howsen simply doesn't know much about the Sharks and thus does not value the players we are offering. He should, because guys like Demers are going to do him a LOT more good than guys like Jack Johnson ever will. He's just a terrible, terrible GM.

Oh sure he sucked so bad the Kings signed him for 7 years.... And no he is better then Demers

It really depends on your needs and it wasn't his fault the Kings forwards are horribly over rated and can't score worth ****... The funny thing is Lombardi knew it all along
It's a video game which highlights physical attributes. Johnson has good skating ability, a strong shot, overall strength, power play awareness, etc. and he's durable. That makes for a good video game player.

They just haven't figured out how to program the game so that when the player is in the defensive zone they have none of those.
Ok and your basing this on what? What does Demers do that better then Johnson?
Actually Demers literally does everything (aside from the PP) better than Johnson. 5 on 5, Demers is a superior player in everyway (especially last season).
JMFJ is definitely one of the most overrated defensemen in the league. He is pretty bad defensively, comparable to Wallin in giveaways, and gets credit as an elite d-man just because he is good offensively. You do really have to wonder how Howsen got a GM job.
4) He faced 2nd tier competition, yet gave up the most goals per 60 on the Kings.
Wow then there should be no stopping the Kings now since they were already the top defensive team in the league on even strength. May as well put a brick wall in net I guess... Now losing a puck moving D when your 30th on Offense yeah that won't hurt at all.

Well there is the talent factor that can be observed... Johnson is the higher talent, but if that doesn't float your boat how about some stats:
This season Johnson is averaging more hits, blocks and I believe points per game.
