Stamkos and Doughty all of last year?

I don't understand why Tavares' deal isn't a good comp. He is younger, but they're pretty much at the exact same point in their careers, both have equal importance to their team, etc.

Stamkos and Doughty were not realistic offer sheet targets at all. They both would have commanded 4 1st rounders in compensation.

Oh, I thought he was assuming just targets, not realistic ones. Nevermind then.

If you had the cap space and a good enough team that you would be 90% certain you would make the playoffs I sure as hell would try to sheet stamkos. I bet if ny hadn't signed Richards they would've offered stamkos some ridiculous contract with like 20m in the first year that Tampa couldn't financially match

Sather is the only GM insane enough to give up 4 1st rounders.

But they'd be low, and Stamkos is one of the few players in the league actually worth it.

$12.86M is the maximum salary this year.

Salary, signing bonus or both? **** they probably could have offered 500k salary+ 12m signing bonus and Tampa wouldn't have been able to match as they were paying a boatload for arena renovations

Both. Tampa would have matched anything. They would cut costs elsewhere.

Superstars don't get offer sheets. There's always speculation about it but it never happens.

Sakic/Fedorov?

Different era, but still.

I agree that Benn is an excellent offer sheet candidate. Nieuwendyk may try to play hardball on this one.

I don't think a team would try an offer sheet with Benn. The Stars have the cap room to absorb any offer sheet and an owner who should be able to handle any salary structure.

Actual salary + signing bonus = Salary as defined by the NHL

Godard has a 1-way for next year.... will the Stars and their budget constraints bury 700k in the minors?!

Buy him out or trade him.

But we don't have budget constraints, we could afford a Gomez in the minors with our new owner.

Money isn't a concern, it's the fact that he has a contract. Contract limit will play a big part in our deals.

That's probably due to the AHL vet rule, do your homework.

Lol? It's because he's not good enough to play every night. You go do your homework. Godard sucks, like Cin said, he's here to mentor our young tough guys in the hope they can eventually become good enough to crack our lineup. He's always been a crap player but he's not even a regular AHLer anymore.

Here you go, genius...

Nope, it's not, he's actually almost as good as Barch. He's played 335 games, but that spot is taken up by Brad Lukowich on the Texas line-up most nights. Not to mention the Texas Stars are actually tough with Gazdic and Tousignant, whereas this team is soft.

So he sucks. He brings nothing to the team. If he was a decent player he would be playing. There is hardly any enforcers left who bring nothing else but fighting. At least Barch is a semi-decent 4th liner who is an amazing locker room guy.

And Dallas is soft? Rofl, go back to your own teams forum you're completely wrong and don't have a clue what you're talking about.
