I'd rather see Beaulieu dealt in any trade than Tinordi since we have PK who's a similar player.. The Habs have been needing a big D that plays with grit for what seems like forever so I'd prefer hanging onto Tinordi..

I wouldn't.

That has as much potential to backfire with fans as it does to please them. If we don't trade and Huberdeau ends up the better player, no one regrets a player you didn't trade for, its just one of innumerable could-haves and no one ever knows if Florida would have done it. But if we do it, and Grigs end up the better player the fans will hate the move.

And I would think Florida would prefer to stick with their prospect as well. They don't even know where we are drafting...so for them it would be Huberdeau for ??????

Meh. Pleks is okay. He'd have alot of value to a team like Florida who hasn't done much in the playoffs in a long time. I do agree he would be useful mentor to a true number 1 center prospect. Pleks is a playoff vet (as a number 1 center). We could get a very nice return on him.

I'd do our 1st for Huberdeau in principle, he appears to be as skilled as anyone in the draft outside Yakupov, and seems to be developing without any problems. But why would Florida offer this, unless there's something wrong the player that only they know about? To me, if anyone starts shopping a top 5 pick a year after the draft, it raises a red flag.

BTW, I'm not sure if Huberdeau ever was a center, but he isn't any more. He's been a winger in the Q, at the WJC, and in Panthers preseason games.

I don't think we have a roster player who would put Florida over the top right now. They would be just as well to keep Huberdeau.

This is just ridiculous; a solidnNHL veteran who can play in all situations and a top prospect for and other top prospect.

WHY?

He kid may have great top end potential but talk abouT MASSIVE overpayment for a kid who hasn't even payed 10 games in the NHL is NUTS!!!

I got it backwards. Usually stas are from newest to oldest. The site I went too had it listed as oldest to newest, honest mistake. Why are the Panthers shopping him. It's a big chance giving up significant pieces for an unproven.

That's only if you search the hashtag used in the tweet.

I'd do this one with the Panthers:

To Florida:
  • Habs' 1st 2012
  • AK or Moen

To Montreal:
  • Huberdeau
  • Panthers' 1st 2012

Here's a quick summary of Huberdeau

ASSETS: Simply oozes offense from his pours, whether playing center or wing. Has tremendous hand/eye coordination and plenty of offensive creativity.

FLAWS: Needs to work on his game without the puck. Must also get stronger in order to better compete with professional defensemen.

I would def trade our 1st this year and ++ for this guy but theres no way in hell the panthers are giving him up unless we overpay.

Come on, Plekanec is worth more than Huberdeau. Mike Richards who is similar to Plekanec got Schenn and Simmons. Established players are still worth more than prospects.

The deal would probably be something like Plekanec and a 2nd for Huberdeau, 1st pick + solid roster player.

So Panthers give up one of their top prospects for a pending UFA and swap picks? Doubt they'd do that.

An established roster player like Plekanec does have more pure value in that sense. But you also have to consider what his value would be to that team.

Unless Florida figures they are a contender right now with Plekanec, why would they give up a player with a higher ceiling who should be in their lineup next year? I would rather keep a possible star player, unless I was gunning for the cup right now.

You never know. But if I was Florida I would not do a straight up trade for Pleks.

Any trading of Plekanec is done in the off season, this is way to major a player! He's worth more to a team starting fresh than @ deadline.

I'll drive to Montreal and dance naked on Ste Catherine street if we get Huberdeau without giving up our first. It would be huge.
